987 performance upgrade

I have a 2007 Boxsxter S with the 295 hp/ 251 fpt engine. What is the best combination of upgrades available to boost hp and fpt within a $3000 budget?

If i'm not mistaken I saw this in European Car..

You can add a different intake plenum, full exhaust and have Revo tune the car and I believe the gains are around 30 break horsepower give or take maybe more. It would probably cost around 3-4k.

From one of 6speed's sponsors:

Should work on Boxster's as well.

Pretty much a DIY project if you are mechanically inclined and comfortable using a PC.

If you ever decide to go this route make sure to read up about the possible issue with the shifter cable becoming loose due to the re-routing of the left shifter cable. More information can be found over at planet-9.

Then if you are up to it, remove the 2nd set of catalytic converters on your stock exhaust via a mod from Carnewal.

+100% on that ... Add some fabspeed catless headers and you are pushing a 50HP increase

The Gen I S cars respond very well to a cat-back + tune setup. If you can chime in a plenum as well, you will see close to 40whp gains.

Cat-backs alone gain upwards of 15whp!

Let us know if we can be of any help - we have done a ton of Caymans on the "other" forum.

I have a gen.1 Boxster S and I just did the Desnorkel mod (finished about 2 hours ago) and I can confirm it does seem to liven up throttle response and give a more robust engine note under full acceleration. I used wire mesh over the inner plastic housing as well as on the back of the stock side vent to adress my concerns with debre getting into the snorkel. I painted the side vent and mesh black... looks and sounds good all for $20 and 2 hours time.

Next mods will be IPD plenum + TB + Fabspeed race catback + chip and either evo's or Fabspeeds air intake. I will be installing these mods all at the same time in about a month from now and will report on the result compared to stock.
