Smile S or Base

If things go well in my life in the coming weeks, I will be seriously looking to get out of my C4S and into a Cayman.

I will be using the car as a daily driver with about 6 to 8 track days a year which I really enjoy.

Lurking around the usual web sites for one several choices become apparent. There seems to an inconsistent price difference between base and s model until one gets to generation 2.

So what sort of price difference should I expect to find between a 06-08 S vs. 09 base? Between 09 base and S?

I would appreciate any insights.

JB

The best and most simplest advice is to get the newest Porsche you can afford. I'd add that I would always get the S version as I would be always wanting that version even if the car I had was gorgeous....but that's just me.

I would definitely go for a 2009 or newer car. If you can only afford the base car in that year range then go for that. The 2.9 engine is a great one and the other changes in the 987-2 cars are IMHO worth the cost.

If you are coming from a 911, then definitely an S. A base model would be too far backwards and would probably lead to regret very soon after purchasing.

I have base (2009) and I test drive the S version (2010) , In low revs It doesn't make a difference so If you are cruising In town u won't feel that much difference between Base and S. On the track It made a slight different. and I test drive the Cayman S (2007) It's a fast turtle.. The shifting Is terrible and slow but It's fast I didn't like it honestly. If you're on budget buy Carrera 2009+ And you won't regret it.

I own a 2010 S, and drove both before purchasing. I personally think you would be pleased with the S. It offers a great platform to build off of.
