1st Impressions of my '15 Boxster GTS...WOW!
1st Impressions of my '15 Boxster GTS...WOW!
History: traded in a '13 991 C2S cab with 30k miles on it after 2 yrs, my first P-car, on a Boxster GTS for no good reason other than my ADD. Loved the 991 and vowed never to leave the family and always own a Porsche from then on. The 991S cab was optioned with: Basalt black/Luxor 7sp MT, full leather 18 way, PDCC, Bose, sport chrono, premium plus...
I am now 200mi. into my Boxster GTS that is optioned as follows:
Jet Black metallic/agate 2-tone w Pebble
PTV
PDK
20" turbo wheels painted black
Premium plus
Park assist we rev camera
Sport design steering wheel
PLDS plus
Sport chrono
18 way seats full leather
Burmester
Instrument dials in white
Very different cars...both amazing but this Boxster is spectacular!
Styling: much more aggressive than earlier models, very unique
Comfort: smoother than earlier models, not quite as smooth as the 911, but not rough either. Feels just a little stiffer but also this may change throughout break-in period, I imagine.
Sound: OMG...this engine/exhaust sounds amazing! So much throatier than the 911 even without the PSE engaged and with it engaged... unbelievable.
Performance: very nimble, definitely feels every bit as responsive but I haven't even begun to scratch the surface on that. Lighter feel, lower, and truly hugs the turns with great confidence. Numbers say the GTS PDK is faster than my 991 S 7MT...unknown but doesn't feel any slower for sure.
Burmester: went back and forth on this option as it certainly isn't as dramatic as it is in the cayenne or panamera, but I wasn't at all impressed with the Bose in the 911... Very average and poor low end frequencies. The Burmester is so much better even in the Boxster. I think Porsche AG should however discount this upgrade for the 911, Cayman, and Boxster.
Wheels: Absolutely Love the turbo painted black..
Overall grade so far early in the season...911 8.5(if I'd had PSE, Burmester may be higher)
Boxster GTS 9.5

In such a small cabin I am suprised Porsche even offers the Burmester. BMW seems to believe that anything smaller then 5 series is too small to put in the high end B&O for that reason alone. Otherwise they would just to get more profit. I guess Porsche wants to put it in anything if the buyer wants it. Nice car Love the interior contrast with the black. Enjoy.
Thanks guys.
I think they definitely need another option over Bose, however I agree it shouldn't be "at the same level" offered in the larger frame vehicles. The B&O system I had in the Audi was spectacular and less expensive than the Burmester...maybe VW should offer that for the Porsche line!

I agree, 981 looks and drives better than the 991. You got the perfect interior. Two tone pebble grey is gorgeous in pictures as well as in person. Congrats on your new roadster!

Thanks Ynot...I built numerous configurations before settling on the final and fortunately my dealership had a 981S with this interior I was able to see prior to submitting the final build.
At the Roadshow last year, they had an Aqua blue Boxster S with two tone amber orange on display. That was my first choice but I ended up buying one with pebble grey. No regrets, I had this combo on my previous roadster and now on my 981S. I love it.
Very nice stable...would love to add an R8 to mine...lol
