Cayman GT4 Officially Revealed!
Ruminating over colors may prove superfluous.
I visited my dealer today and they stopped taking deposits for the GT4. The salesperson claimed that the dealership received ten allocations, but they aren't sure if they'll actually receive ten GT4s. And it's a pretty large dealership.

He confirms the rear suspension is MacPherson strut albeit with less rubber bushings.
I'm still going to buy one, hopefully

I received my allocation last week. No surprise for me since I had a really good spot. Ever since the config is up I'm still struggling with even the most basic choices such as color.
GT silver is awesome but I can't justify a $2,600 color option on a track car. Sticking with normal metallic or better yet standard colors. Yellow seems cool but I'm worried I'll get over it faster than I can drive the car.
The deviated stitching is a joke. Leather interior is $1,100 (bargain) and then just changing the color but nothing else another $1,500. Ouch.
I'm also torn on the track app. Word on the street is that it's horrible. That said, it's mostly software driven. Chances are they'll provide an update with bug fixes and/or extended functionality and suddenly it could be awesome. I'll consider adding this option. Good news is that the track app works with the basic radio in case I don't want to add any audio options.
Bucket seats for sure. Had those in my 7.2 GT3 and they're awesome. These ones even better yet as height adjustable.
I'll say no PCCBs. Had those on my last car also and I was more than horrified of the replacement costs. But I'm sure those 410mm carbon discs do well on that small car. How awesome. And $2.5k less compared to the exact same option on the 991 GT3.

I would love to get one but here in the TriState area it seems dealers won't even talk to me about putting me on a list because they have more deposits than allocation.
If anyone knows a dealer that can't get rid of one please let me know.
Thanks
Same for a GT3 RS

It may pay for you to visit a few dealerships from time to time. I ended up securing a spot for the GT4 last Friday when I brought my 991 in for an oil change.
Please let me know if you are having second thoughts. Really, like most others I've called around to every dealer within reason and got laughed at.
No luck calling or emailing dealers. I guess I'll just have to wait for a used one, hoping I can find one where the original owner didn't cheap out on the options. I will want one with Info/Bose, and heated/vented seats. Some other stuff like PDLS+ and convenience pkg would be nice too. And the painted interior parts really look sharp on the Red, Yellow & Blue Caymans. I'm not buying one with AC & Radio deletes regardless of price.
In the end, I might bite the bullet and go for the 3.8 conversion at BGB on my 2014 Cayman S, adding LSD, 3rd radiator, X73, big steel brakes and a wing. If I go this route it will be hard to decide between 400 & 430 hp. Since all I want is a street car, the 400 hp should do it.

Neither the Bose nor the Burmeister audio are options on the GT4. And you can't get ventilated seats. Most of us appear to be ordering the lightweight buckets which also means you can't get heated seats.
You can get nav but it seems like most of us are skipping that option since the factory nav frankly stinks and is already obsolete. You can't get a rear window wiper or back up camera either.
The GT4 is a motorsports car and many, most of the folks ordering them appear to be focused on keeping weight down and the focus on a pure driving experience.
An "S" or "GTS" model might be more in line with what you might be looking for.

I already have a nicely optioned 2014 Cayman S with 3500 miles, so +4.6% hp and +2.6% torque doesn't make a GTS attractive enough for the extra $27-30k it would likely cost me. For not much more I could do the 400 hp 3.8L/X73/LSD/Wing conversion. I'd probably like that a lot better than the GTS. I bet that 3.8L would sound good through my PSE...
