2015 Boxster Price

I am looking at 2015 or 2016 Boxster with 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). The MSRP is 70K. Is this a good model for a first time buyer and any room for negotiations?. I realize it is an expensive car to maintain, so how easy is to maintain a Boxster myself? (Oil change, Brakes etc)

Thanks

Oil change is very easy - everything in plain sight, you don't have to remove any underbody panels, etc. If you have done brakes before, then the Boxster should be no problem. Nothing overly complicated. I am sure there are DYI videos on YouTube. Check those out to see.

Pricing on Boxsters (base, S) always is negotiable. This is not a limited production, super high demand car. If the 2015 is new on the lot, there is a lot of room to drop the price. My local dealer was knocking $10k off new 2015s to move them when the 2016s arrived. 2016 prices are somewhat dealer dependent and could be a little stronger than the past due to it being the last year of NA engines and a possible short gap in production as Porsche moves to the new turbo Boxsters. But definitely try to negotiate a deal if you decide on a 2016.

The Boxster is an outstanding choice as a first time Porsche buyer. I just bought a 2016 Boxster S in Sapphire Blue Metallic and was able to negotiate a price below MSRP. This is my fourth Porsche since 2011. I have owned a 2008 Cayman S, a 2011 Boxster Spyder and a 2014 Carrera 911. I thoroughly enjoyed driving each one but my new Boxster S is a blast to drive. As far as maintainane is concerned, Porsche's are not inexpensive to maintain. Oil changes at my dealer run $225 although you do get a 10 percent discount for being a member of the Porsche Club of America. A major service will cost you about $1,400 but does not take place until 40,000 miles. Lots of members in the Club do their own oil changes and some who are qualified mechanics can do a more. Is the Boxster you are considering a standard model or an S?

Thank you both. Looks like, I can save some money buying 2015 in Atlanta area. Are there any quality issues in 2015 that I should be aware of. or should I get 2016? Is 10K below MSRP doable for 2015? I am thinking of 'Boxster S'

Many Thanks again for your help

Hennessy has a 2015 Boxster GTS that was a demo with deep discounts. Check their website. Its silver with black interior, roof and wheels. They may be willing to go lower to get rid of it. Its their last 2015 Boxster. My salesperson is Sally Moore. She is great to deal with. If you decide to call her tell her Charley suggested you call. Good luck.

Thank you. I saw the GTS too in their website. Is GTS, a step above 'S' model?

Yes it is a step above the Boxster S. 15 more horsepower and I believe it has a different suspension some what sportier.

There is only 1 2016 Boxster S at Hennessy and I know that there are no more coming since mine 2016 and one that a friend of mine ordered are the last two. MSRP on the one they have is $79,350 and its Guards Red. Looks like a pretty car. I am not aware of any issues with either the 2015 or the 2016 Boxster's. The price on the 2015 GTS is even lower than when I looked at it. Its now discounted $14,350. My salesman told me earlier this month that if I want a naturally aspirated flat 6 I needed to act now or they could all be gone. Good luck with your decision. BTW when you do finally make your decision you need to join Peachstate Porsche Club. I have been a member for almost 5 years and have thoroughly enjoy the activities and being around other Porsche enthusiast. Check out our website at peachstatepca.org
