Cayman S vs Exige C&D this month...

The latest C&D has a six page article on the Cayman S vs Lotus Exige.
I have posted the thumbs to the article on my site:

Cayman S vs Exige Article

I was also at Ira Porsche today and saw that they had about 8 Cayman S on the lot - bad cell phone pic:

that's odd cuz i think the exige was being compared to the Ferrari F430 in another current issue magazine.

The audacity of C&D to call the Cayman "Porsche's hardtop variant of the Boxster S." !!!

Who in the hell writes that rag anyway?!?

Is that a new magazine?

Sense any sarcasm?

Cayman also had a faster lap time. It appears the top speed of the Exige is pathetic. It was 10+ mph slower down the back straight than the Cayman. Some track weapon.

I have driven the elise and wrote up about my cayman drive a couple weeks ago. Now the elise was a fun car, handled well, felt like the closest thing to a shifter kart I have driven in a car but I will make it short. The elise is not very fast at all. Above 100mph it will get walked away from, even by the Cayman S(and I mean walked away from). The cayman S offers a lot more car for the money when you compare it with the Exige. Now what makes a good bargain is a slightly used elise(you can pick one up for 35k now).

I don't know. I never paid much attention to the elise or exige, since they aren't available in Canada. I knew they had the Celica's engine, however, from all the talk about being great track weapons etc, I expected more. I would have expected 150-60 top speed at least.

well they also noted that this car felt significantly slower then elise's they've tested before

had they put a vtec motor in it instead of that toyo POS it'd hit 150

you have to remember though the exige had R compounds and the Cayman S did not. They said it had the sticky Yokohamas which means they are the R-comps. I am so damn surprised the exige was not quicker specially with the HUGE tire advantage. There is a reason that the cayman S felt significantly scarier while being pushed....one was on R comps and one on street tires!
