She's gone.....garage burn accident
On Thanksgiving day, she was burnt up in a garage fire caused by a malfunctioning space heater.
I tried to save her, and almost lost my life.
read about it here: http://tinyurl.com/porscheburn
The insurance settlement was adequate and there are no tears lost.
The main reason being this: I discovered that if you purchase a Porsche from outside a local dealer,
expect to get really ****ty service and support at that local dealer.
With this car, we had Atlanta PNA involved and even Stuttgart when the PDK went awry.
Under warranty, the dealer wouldn't/couldn't fix or replace the PDK.
The best place for this car is the salvage yard. R.I.P Dark Beauty.
This is a true testimony to the delicate nature of these cars.
It's great when they are working right...hell when they are not.
I'll look to get a replacement (Blue metallic) in the spring.

So sorry to hear Wiz.
1. Glad you are going to be OK. Sounds pretty terrible.
2. No possession is more important than your life. The car can and will be replaced.
3. Sounds like the PDK problem will be resolved, just not the way you expected.
Take it easy and recover, then keep us posted on the replacement.

The PDK problem was resolved with the insurance company's check....LOL.
My voice is still not back to normal....seeing ENT specialists for that.
Will I replace this Boxster with another one ? That remains to be seen. The attitude of the local dealer is a big factor here.
I found the perfect replacement in Tulsa, OK....2013 S with Sports Chrono and Launch Control...and Blue Metallic. 6500 miles.
That is my dream car combination.
Happy Holidays to all.

Sorry about the loss of your car and I second the wish for a speedy (and full) recovery.
I'm a bit surprised about having issues getting a Porsche serviced at a dealer from which you didn't buy the car. Over 16 years and 317K miles I only had one spot of bother when I took my Boxster to a dealer for an oil/filter service. I was on the road and thousands of miles from home. Since I hadn't expected any issues getting the car serviced on the road I didn't have a premature/early oil/filter service done before I left.
While I didn't expect to get the car right in I was prepared to wait even to the next day. But service adjuster said something like we don't do quicky lube jobs. I replied I specifically contacted Porsche *before* I bought my Boxster to ask about getting the car serviced at a dealer other than the one I bought the car from and I was told paraphrasing any dealer would be quite willing to service the car. I may have added something about contacting Porsche again and asking if what it told me didn't include this dealer.
The SA backed off a bit and then told me he had no Porsche techs available. One was out sick and the other away on training. Ok. I asked if one of the Mercedes techs or BMW techs could do the job -- it is not that hard a job I had done it a number of times myself already -- and he said "no". Ok. That is his decision. But why didn't he just tell me he had no one available?
All's well that ends well, though. I took care of my business in that area then headed south and stopped in at the Niello Porsche dealer in Rocklin CA. Niello Porsche got my Boxster right in for an oil/filter service. Used the dealer again at least once for an emergency set of new tires -- for my Turbo -- and more recently I bought a 2018 Mini JCW from the Niello Mini dealer in Sacramento partially because of my experience with Niello Porsche.
But every other dealer in cities: Springfield MO, Wichita KS, Oklahoma City, Livermore, CA (how could I have left off Livermore! Great service!), Sacramento, Walnut Creek, CA, Fresno, and a number of dealers in the SF Bay Area all were very good about taking care of my service needs for both my Boxster and my 996 Turbo.

Thanks Mac...my local dealer was an A-Hole....to say the least.
They hated the car from the start....because I replaced the wheels and tires.
Let me tell you:
Those wheels and tires I replaced were awesome compared to the OEM versions.
The car handled like no other.
20 mph turns at 60 !!
Everyone remarked about them in a positive manner.
PNA has no great regards from me.
F-Them.
I got my money....and happy to be "out". Not sure if another Porsche is in the future.
Really bad taste in my mouth.

I hope you also didn't need personal injury attorney los Angeles services. A friend of mine also has a Porsche and bought it from an authorized dealer, but he had big problems with his oil filter. The engine was terribly hot and rattled. Fuel consumption became unusually high and the motor was running intermittently. The power also dropped and he observed decrease in dynamic parameters. I don't know what's the matter, why now when you buy a car you have to repair it right away, but I just want to tell all Porsche drivers. Be careful.

Burn-out
This is a not place for Porsches....and I hardly see any of them in the city. The insurance is outrageous.
I hope to get back to the burbs next year....when all of the foreclosures will be happening. Then, I might consider getting another 980...I really don't want a 718.

I never saw the original post when it happened . Thought maybe you burn it down due to the PDK issues and can see by the story thats not what was going on. What kind of PDK issues did you have with such a well cared for low mileage car if you don t mind me asking?

Well, one day in my garage, there was this puddle of transmission oil on the floor..known as Pentosin. This was a month before the warranty expired.
I took it to the dealer and they were unable to fix it, although they said they had fixed it. They had the car for 3 weeks. They replaced the valve body, but that was not the problem....and the service manager knew that.
The car was in need of a PDK replacement ($20,000), but Porsche of North America said they wouldn't do it because they discovered I was renting the car on weekends thru the Turo app.
No question that I did not burn-up this car intentionally....as I almost lost my life trying to save it. Man, I can only think there was divine intervention here....as I was holding an unsaleable car with 50% of normal market value. The insurance company paid me off well however.
