Hi All...
I put this vid together from the recent Top Gear comparing the Boxster S with the new Z4. I won't spoil it.

I would take the Boxster S over it any day. A roadster needs to be chilling and relaxing... And accurate when you decided to floor it.

Normally I will not choose BMW over Porsche. When compare car to car, Cayman S and M coupe is par for me. Cayman win on handling, looks, interior and is a Porsche. M win on power. But when you also consider their price. A Cayman S with normal options will be $95KCAD and M is $75K. With $20K different, is hard to take the Cayman S.

True, love the M no doubt about it, but it couldve been so much better!
I miss a bunch of stuff on it that the old one had!
Bigger wheelarches, M gills on the sides, "Lipped" wheels, M mirrors, not stock sideskirts like the new one has, two tone interior, no SMG option, it even has the same engine as the old one (not that its bad in any way)... I could go on... Just felt like the new M Z4 was a rush-job to sell some more Z4s

And still it is the sportiest car in BMW's lineup. Scary isn't it? After an E36 and two E46 M3s I feel at least disappointed with BMW.

Go buy the new Cayman non S for 45K US and drop a 3.8 in it and a set of coil-overs for about the same price of a Cayman S---proceed to beat up on C6, M Coupe and a 997S

I still like the old Z3 Mcoupe more.

Why do you say so? Apart from the warranty issue (basically the fact that there will be no warranty) it is pretty feasible and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg...

down time spent in the project

cost of 3.8 engine

conversion cost

resell value

etc

wouldn't cost arm & leg? sure it's easy to say. but with the money spent u can get a much better car. it's one of those fun project no doubt but realistically it's not a good way to compare them.
