not saying its cheap, nor am i saying its a good or bad deal. Business is business, they are in it to make money. if you dont like it, DONT BUY IT.

Well said Evan!

No 10 minute flashes here.... Also the airfilter is not $30 it is over $100. As said in the other post by Yogi, there is a lot of R&D that goes into an ECU. You think we have a complete staff of people doing R&D, dyno testing and writing programs for free? There are many salaries and expenses that go into creating a program for a car.

Thank you, you are absolutely correct...

There are clearly pros and cons for each method, but all the German tuners use custom ECUs. What does that mean?
Evan....what do you guys have available for the 987 S? Your Stage 1 kit looks like it bumps the Cayman HP from 295 to 308 = 13hp. If you have similar results for the Boxster S, then an 05-06 Boxster S with 280hp plus your stage 1 kit = ~293hp will favor very comparably to a new 07 Boxster S with 295hp...the difference being that dealers will be cutting prices on the 05-06 model once the 07 hits the ground thus I could get the same performance for about 10-15k cheaper.

Headers (Normally around $1500 for other models)
Sport Catalytics (Normally around $2,000 for other models)
Second Set of Sport Catalytics (Normally around $2,000 for other models)
Sport Mufflers (Normally around $1750 for other models).
So right there you have $7250 that you would normally pay for the same components on other Porsche models. The difference is that Porsche decided to use 2 sets of catalytics on this car (very costly) and put them all together. If you break it down like I did above, we are really charging about the same thing (even a bit less) for the individual components.
The 2 sets of catalytics is where it gets pricey. Should you choose to go with primary and secondary catalytic bypass instead the price comes down almost $2,000!
I hope this helps you understand where the costs are coming from! Basically you can thank Porsche for putting 2 sets of cats on these cars and making it more expensive

Evan

-ECU Reprogram
-BMC Sport Filter
FVD 987 Boxster S Level 2: 305HP/254TQ
-ECU Reprogram
-BMC Sport Filter
-Sport Headers (With Cats)
-Sport Muffler (With Cats)
So you are correct, the level 1 will bring it to right around the 07 numbers.

Evan
I see software corporation titans like Oracle as "businesses" too but I sure as hell don't see them asking for an arm, a leg, and your unborn child for their business software suites. Just crunching down the numbers/gains like any good businessman would yogi+evan, don't take it too personally.
$500 per hp gain just didn't sound too smart of an investment to me. Just sharing an opinion, don't get all hissy. We all have to pay for our addiction some way or another right so calm down.

There's a reason that Oracle made $4.9 billion in revenue last quarter...and it wasn't because they were the best deal in town...hint (they bought PeopleSoft to ensure they were the ONLY game in town).

With that being said. I'm a firm beleiver in the free market and if they can get that kind of money for their software, more power to them. If it isn't worth that much, people won't buy it and the price will drop.
At the same time, I have noticed that some FVD parts are simply rebadged/marked up parts from other companies, however this is common in the aftermarket scene with the top line companies. Ultimately you're paying a certain amount for the name and for the service and support that comes with the top names, and there is value there.
Good luck. I'm sure those who have the money for these upgrades will enjoy them.
