997TT vs Cayman S

My 997TT went in for some warranty work and the dealer gave me a Cayman S as a loaner. I really really like the way the Cayman handles. Apart from the horrid juice drive there was everything to like about the Cayman.

As you said the Cayman S is a really great handly car...but I think you can't compare it to the Turbo...too much different driving experiences...
It's good the way a Turbo guy as you can appreciate the Cayman

Tiptronic in a Benz has you tipping the stick right to upshift, tipping left to downshift. The AMG Benz's have an upshift button behind the right spoke and a downshift button behind the left spoke, and Benz now has paddles. Porsche has the buttons on the face of the wheel and either one will upshift or downshift, depends on the way you fumble for it. I found it awkward to shift if I was also doing a lot of steering input. You want to grip the wheel with your thumb and you have to let go to shift. The juice drive worked OK, the buttons were a PITA.

I have to agree with you on that. Same thing in the cayenne's... i just couldn't use those buttons if i was doing twisty's... I would use the standard up/down shifter

That cayman amazes me more today then it did when it just came out... especially techart'd

I would too if it had one. Sadly, the auto stick cannot be shifted that way, at least I did not find a way to shift with the stick. Tipping it to the left puts it into M mode, to the right and you are back in auto mode.

I thought thats what u meant, but was unclear when i first read it. I think that whether u have those or paddles some part of you hand is going to be off the steering wheel when your shifting so its whether u want it to be a thumb or or index and middles finger to shift.
