leasing question
leasing question
I know that when you lease a car you can put some extra money into wheels, etc that the dealership might sell. I think that there is some % that you can put into the lease. What is that percent?
iirc, laws out here prohibit leasees from modifying their cars and using the value of the "mods" as a capitalized cost. had a lot to do with the days of people buying a $20k truck and having $20k of customizations done to it, writing off a $40k lease payment. Now, while you can lease the $20k truck, if you wanted to have the dealer do all the bells & whilstles, you'd have to pay the other $20k out of pocket.
what exactly is it you're looking at doing, adding wheels/tires @ delivery, or as factory options? I don't believe this "rule" applies to factory options.

for example my brother has a bmw 750li and he payed 95,000 for the car. the Vista BMW dealer ship added 5000 to the top and put bmw 21'' wheels on the car. They were bmw but not on the option list. For example i orderd my car out of champion porsche in south florida and they offered me if i wanted to i could have put a 5-6000$ set of champion motorsports wheels on my car into my lease payment. even though the wheels are at the end mine not to turn in. In a way they were letting me pay out the wheel during the lease. I was wondering what the max amount they will let you put into your lease (pay out)
so if what you're saying is correct and you've understood it to be true, paying the $5k over the period of the lease is not in fact making a lease payment, it sounds like you are technically financing the wheels and tires and leasing the car they go on, especially if you get to "keep" the wheels/tires afterwards.
If you aren't looking to write any of this off, who gives a hoot. Ask the dealer what they'd be willing to finance you up to.
If you ARE looking to write off your lease payment, do not pass go, go directly to a CPA to discuss this.

that's great at least you dont have to pay for it yourself...but youre going to owe more than what the car is worth later on.. unless it's not documented that those things are installed.. so you can remove it and sell it..LOL
those mods doesnt do anything to resale, so if you want to get out of that lease you'll be upside down head first

rules
The rules are only OEM equipment can be residualized the amount of which would correlate directly to the option as if it were purchased directly from Porsche. So if you add a cd changer you can residualize the 650 not the labor or anything more. Same thing for a nav you can resid. 2070, not the 3200 it actually costs to get through the parts dept, with labor and the optical cable. Hope this clears everything up for you.
Leasing companies usually have a cap on a car so if the car lists at 65K and with fees and what not it winds up being 70K they will let you use the full 70k so if you negotiate a 5K discount and then add in a 5K set of wheels, you should still be able to get it done.
like 05997s said, each car has a cap price, you can't lease a 100k cayman. that said, you can put whatever you like on the car and include in the sales price. porsche financing may not do it, but they are not the only financing available out there.
