To make the car ready for turbo setup, I will do both, but I enjoy doing my mods one at a time to appreciate the value of each, I'm debating which to do first, a set of coilovers or a quaiffe atb.

or should i be really cool and get some neon underbody lights

Question New to this Mod stuff

What is a Quaiffe? And with the MacPherson strut design that Porsche uses don't we already have coils over shocks?

quaife is a company that makes active torque braking differentials. It is a ring type differential and technically different from a plate-type limited slip, but performs in a relatively similar manner. There are differences in how the two differentials act when one wheel is lifted, but for most non-race drivers, an ATB diff gives most of the efficacy of a true LSD for far less maintenence wise.

re: coilover, yes these cars have coilover suspensions, but when most people refer to coilover it is an aftermarket kit to replace the the spring and shock combo already on the car.

hope this helped.

Thanks. Now I understand. You guys are looking to upgrade the coils and shocks on the strut. Is the Quaiffe then a Posi traction setup versus a limited slip?

I have both coilovers and the Quaife LSD. I would do the coilovers first. Suspension is such a huge factor in car handling and hence lap times. LSD just lets you put and keep the power down on very tight corners. Depending on where you drive, this might not even make a difference.

I have the Bilstein PSS9s and they are quite good. But the springs are not nearly as hard as the Motons. If I had to do it again I would get the Motons.

My install cost about $400. Anything more is a large rip

171mph,

You are in the Bay Area, mind sharing the name of your shop, and how much for the LSD, parts and labor? Did the same shop install the PSS9?

Thanks.

You can put higher rate springs on your PSS9 if you like . The Boxster Spec Racing guys are allowed a couple of variations. You will see their specs and some discussion on the topic at : http://www.boxsterspecracing.org/hom...?location=home

Hope this helps

Dennis

Thanks Dennis,

That is something I may evetually do. Not sure how the PSS9 dampers would match up with stiffer springs but will find out.
