Hi everyone,

I just bought a '04 CS and the message "Service Now" comes up every time I start the engine. It goes away after 2 seconds. I checked Main Menu>Vehicle Info>Warnings but there was no warning.

Is this normal when the engine first starts 0r do I need to bring it in for service? Does the Cayenne tell you when you need oil change? Is this an indication for oil change or maybe 40K service? It has 41k miles on it.

Its the service indicator, if your at 41k miles, its for the 40K mile service, simple as that.
oil change, spark plugs, air and cabin filter and other things, but those are the big items.

We all started with questions like that...sometimes we forget that. This seems like a friendly forum - I hope we can keep it that way and share knowledge and a little grace when needed.

RTFM is the proper response on all website car forums when the answer can be found by RTFM!!!............

 

"RTFM" is harsh...i read this post yesterday and I didnt bother responding to the RTFM post b/c I thought I didnt want to stoop down and address it, but my thinking is......if you dont want to share the info (bc you clearly do know it) then just stay quiet, no need to say to RTFM. If you had just stated to RTM....thatd be different, but RTFM is excessive.

I remember my first post, it was probably a similar easy question, and hey guess what the response I got was? "RTFM!" by none other than the same who said it here. I remember how upset I was when I read it at that time, and still am when I see someone post it to another.

Im a huge car enthusiast, and have been through so many cars in the last few years....and with every car Ive joined a forum on it, be it my lexus, my benz, my bmw...etc.....and with all the perceived 'stupid easy' questions put out on any other board, ive never seen the response "RTFM" except on the Porsche board. I think its sad. Especially since the people who are saying it are so knowledgable...they could easiliy just share it or just ignore it.

It doesnt take much more out of our lives to share info than it does to degrade someone or make someone feel stupid for asking a question.

Anyways, thats my rant, sorry!
