guys my shop just mounted pirelli scorpion ice&snow tires on 21" sport design rims.
i plan to put on vehicle this weekend but I can't tell if the tires are directional or not? is there and easy way to tell?
thx, just dont want to ruin tires.

 

All directional tires will have arrows on the sidewall indicating the proper direction of travel.

 

i really can't believe they produced 21" SNOW tires..

 

Let as know how they handle on snow.

 

Funny, I just ordered a set of 18"s for mine. I'm going for maximum winter performance

+ 1 for 18" Pirelli Ice & Snow. I mounted mine on a set 0f $200 18" stock turbo wheels. I've heard that smaller is better when it comes to snow tires. My regular wheels are 19' Cayenne design. Will get their first test when we drive to Lake Almanor for Christmas.

 

The Scorpion I&S tires are not directional. They are mildy asymetric.

You can read up here. They look directional at first glance but are not.

Finally have spent two solid days driving on ice and snow in and around Tahoe on the 18"s. I am so impressed, I can't even begin to tell you. I feel like I'm driving an Audi quattro wagon. No slipping at all, granted they are brand new, but I am so glad I went with the 18's.

 

More importantly..How was the skiing?
I'm going to Squaw next weekend. I also have a set of Scorpions on my CTT.
Great tire for the mountains!

 

Went to Kirkwood and it was actually better than expected. Chair 5 and one man-made run but it was snowing, the snow-guns firing, and they let people venture out into the other runs to the left and right. The problem is that this is pretty much the first storm, and nobody had much of anything before Friday night. Only a few runs total were open in all of Tahoe. The other issue is the moisture content of the snow is so incredibly low that its not going to stick and provide a good base....it may blow away in strong winds. However, its ABSOLUTELY nuking as of 10 pm on Sunday night where I am sitting. Calling for 30 inches above 7,000 feet in the next 24 hrs. Squaw should get enough open to make you happy.

it was dumping in calgary the past weekend with very cold temperatures
very happy with the 21" snow tires
no issues going through a foot of soft snow
the roads are now hard packed/ice and the tires have good grip/handling

for comparison purposes i drove my friends Toureg with 19" snows. marginally better performance.

 

More Scorpion testing today...drove around 100 miles today in freezing temps and deep snow. It snowed around 2 feet overnight, with another foot while skiing (which was only 3 hours)....just great solid performance.
