Rear bumper protective piece fell off...
Has this happened to anyone else yet? It's that little strip on the top of the back bumper. It was on one day, and gone the next. I can't remember what color it was but I think it was black. We have the black out option.

The piece? I have no idea. My service tech asked the same thing. Unfortunately I don't have a chase car following me so I wasn't able to recover it He said I would probably need the piece to get it replaced under warranty.

It's hard to tell in the pic, but that piece is white now, not silver like it appears. If you look in the corners you can see some silver poking out. I think that's what it normally looks like if you don't have the factory black out option. Now the adhesive or whatever is left behind and the black cover piece is gone.

957 Rear Bumper Protective Piece Fell Off
I know that this is an old thread, but I have just had the trim piece fall of our '08 957. Note that only the stainless steel cap fell off - it was apparently glued to the part that is attached to the bumper cover. Mine has the same very light gray adhesive showing as in the picture in this thread. I understand that the bracket is attached to the bumper cover with clips, and that the bumper cover has to be removed to replace it. I would like to identify an adhesive that I could use to re-attached the stainless steel part - any ideas? Thanks!

On my 08 when I lost the SS cap, simply masked off the white plastic underneath, sanded lightly with 350 grit, followed with 600 grit, blew dust off with compressed air and then wiped down with degreaser. A number of light coats with a rattle can of gloss black turned out perfectly.

Understood and makes sense. One other option is plasti dip. It goes on like spray paint but drys like a rubberized finish. If you put it on and it didn't hold up or you didn't like it, it peels right off. Maybe a temporary solution, but I agree not nearly as good as a proper fix.
