'09 Cayenne or '08 GTS

Walked into the dealer today with the intent on leasing a new '09 V6 Cayenne for my practice, while there they offered me a steep discount on a new '08 GTS. Money wise it's a little more, but not that much. This is my first lease and I'm doing it for the tax write off. What would you do?

Since it is a lease, getting a one year old car does not really hurt you much from a depreciation standpoint because you just walk-away at the end of the lease. If you can get a steep discount like posted above you will have a huge cap reduction and the capitalized cost and payments may be less than the '09 V6.

The GTS is far nicer. The interior is just awesome. It is difficult to break out of the traditional thinking that applies to purchasing a car. I would be hesitant to purchase a one year old vehicle. With leasing it just comes down to getting the nicest car for the lowest payment.

I have to lease for the same reasons as you. PM me your email and I will send you a couple of things I have.

the only concern could be the old PCM, which I think is a big issue...

Great point! Did the GTS get rolled out with the new PCM? I remember driving one with the new PCM and I was thinking it was a 2008 but it could have been an early 2009.

you are comparing a V6 with a GTS. This is a no brainer, GTS all the way. A new PCM, bluetooth and ipod connection cannot make up the driving advantage that a GTS can offer you.

If I were buying the Cayenne to my wife, I'd go with the V6.

It burns less gas, easier to maintain, newer ****pit, higher resale value.

If I were buying it for myself, I'd go with V8, no matter what

GTS

There is a reason why you have a 997 Turbo - not a Carrera or Carrera S. If you get the 6 cylinder Cayenne, you will always be looking back and saying "Damn Doug, I should have gone for the GTS." I sure don't see you buying the GTS and looking back and saying "Damn Doug, I should have gone for the 6 cylinder Cayenne."
I have both PCMs and while the new one is impressive, the old one isn't bad and does just about everything the new PCM does. Plus, I hate all those fingerprints all over the touch screen.

I pulled the trigger on the GTS. It was such a smoking deal, it really was a no brainer. GTS for the price of a v6. I love this thing! I'll post a pic tomorrow, but it's Meteor on black with 21s. Do these things have a sports exhaust on them? It sounds sick!!

TT Gasman,

Congrats. Can you share the discount that you got on the car? I have a friend that's looking for a GTS '08 and he's trying to create a baseline for negotiations...

Thanks!

Congratulations, mind sharing what a lease on a GTS would go for?
My 750 is going back in a few months and I'm thinking about a GTS myself.
PM if you prefer.
