Do lowering modules affect 4wd controls?

Hi,

I'm looking at a 2nd hand 05MY Cayenne and it has a Ruf lowering module on it. The air suspension seems to go up and down fine, but the 4wd controls to the left of it don't seem to be connected or do anything anymore.

Is this typical of lowering kits? Have been told the Ruf mods are why it has been disconnected, but need to confirm if this is really the case.

If not, any ideas why those controls don't light up or do anything now. No warning lights on the dash.

Thanks,

Dan

No, my experience is it should all work as normal. Sounds like a an issue with the transfer case controls.

Thanks, didn't seem right to me.

Would a problem here not flag a warning on the dash then?

Do all Cayennes have these controls? Spoke to a specialist who suggested maybe a problem with the MOST bus and that doing a reinitialise might find the controls again.

I personally don't think the air suspension and awd controls are related. Yes, they are controlled from the same control button set, but they have nothing to do with each other. All the cayennes have the awd controls, it's a standard, but not all the cayennes are equipped with the air suspension.

MOST bus has nothing to do with car controls, it's the audio/multimedia interface. CAN BUS does, but not in this case.

It's probably a broken control set, have it replaced at a dealer and you should be fine. I'm pretty sure it would have thrown a bunch of alarm messages on the dash if there was anything wrong with the awd system.

Thanks. Have asked vendor if he'll fix it. Not sure I want to risk buying the car with that stuff not working in case it is something worse.

Interesting. Vendor has gone back to Ruf and apparently they confirm it is meant to be disconnected. Not sure now what to think. Car has all theirs mods on it taking it to 550bhp which is no more than a turbo S I don't think? Wonder why they would unplug stuff...

Well buddy, you said that the buttons are not working, no sign of life there... We all though that it's somehow disconnected.. Of course it doesn't work in P or D. Put it in neutral, and voila... You should have noticed the error message on the dash saying that you need to be in Neutral in order to do the change...

lol yeah its pretty funny. There was no dash message that I saw though. Maybe its different on the newer ones? This is 05MY.

Anyway there you go! Deal is pretty much done so should be in possession of a Ruf Cayenne 550 by the end of next week.

Thanks for the help guys.
