Upgrade Navigation

Does anyone know if you can upgrade the 06 cayenne Navigation to the newer touchscreen / Harddrive / Bluetooth system?

Here is what "this" guy says. I also saw these comments verbatim on these boards. What I have not seen is a tutorial or anyone that has said " Hey I did it" with a picture to back it up.:

From the ebay listing:

"ALSO, SHOULD BE WORK WITH 03+ BUT, YOU MAY NEED SOME WORKS . LIKE REWIRING ! ASK DEALER OR AUDIO SHOP FIRST TO MAKE SURE . AGAIN I DON'T TAKE RETURNS IF YOU CAN NOT RETROFIT. I'M SELLING NEW 09 HDD NAV PCM3.0 FOR CAYENNE !
here is i found on update website about retrofit info:
  1. It IS possible to retrofit a PCM3 into a 2004-2008 Cayenne.
  2. You only need 2 components: the Actual PCM3 radio and a new 2009 Bose amplifier.
  3. The radio's wiring must be changed (but it's not TOO difficult) and the amplifier's wiring must be changes as well. the fiber optics stay intact
  4. Any MOST accessories if installed (i.e. CD Changer, NAV Computer) must be removed and optically bypassed as the PCM3 does not work with previous generation accessories.
  5. The PCM3 has built in support for Bluetooth, iPod, Aux Audio and DVD audio. some features need to be activated.
  6. Note that you also have to code the radio to the VIN Number of your vehicle. Any dealer can do that.
  7. The CAN communication is identical to previous models, so steering wheel controls, parking lights illumination, ign key functions would all work."

The wiring has to be swapped? Are there different wires or are the connectors just different?

I am just pasting what the guy has on ebay , but here is my guess. The fiber is just passing data so it make sense that i would stay in place. He probably means that the big molex connector (power, ground, etc.) probably is not identical. For this kind of money, I would never "try it" based on these loose comments. I would wait until someone else has done it and POSTS clear instructions (like the kind I have seen for swaping S with Turbo dashes). Also, there has to be a point where you reach the law of diminishing returns. I mean, look - $4G's on fleabay + who knows what else. I had this in my last car -http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...sh/AVIC-F900BT
It makes PCM 3 look like junk and thsi is only $500. That gives you $3500 left to get it installed. Check these links of custom cayenne installs:

That actually looks better than I expected. My big gripe is the trim ring. Hm. May have to do this.

Most of these units will do everything that the PM will do and then some. The PCM looks cool cuz it has lots of shinny buttons that most of us like. As soon as you have something to contrast the PCM against the sooner you will hate it. I have an M35 and the system in that car is probably the best on the market: hard to top: voice control / BT for 5 phones / GPS / 6 disc in the dash / DVD player in the center console / 14 speakers / trip computer / tire preasure sensors / Service alerts / Climate control - just one of the best i have used. I also had a Q7 for a few days when they were servicing my C - the system in that car is dam good also. Just sucks that porshe was behind the times on this and worse yet, they dont even warrenty the PCM on a CPO'd car. To the PCMs credit, it's so bad it does not distract me from the melodious sound my tail pipes make.

Will the DNX 7140 work with these install instructions? Looks like it is just an evolution of the 7120, so i don't see why not. Anyone know?
