Upsolute chip for gts??

Has anyone tried this chip for their GTS yet? The website claims a 30hp gain. http://www.upsolute.com/index.php?op...id_model=13481

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i think a 30hp claim is on the money.
with a turbo it would be way higher.

all these generic chips/boxes are ok, and do offer such gains just by pluging in, as all manufactures dont take there cars to the limit/tolerances.
they must take into consideration things like different grades of fuel/temprature and such like.
the generic chips just alter the fuel/air mixture and more fuel/air gives more power.
the only trouble with these chips/boxes is they dont take into consideration the state of your engine, and if you have any faults, so by adding/altering the fuel mixture "COULD" cause problems.

but by far most are safe, and not on the limit.

the best option is a "custom" map, where all your vehicle strengths/weaknesses are accounted for and worked round, but these cost a lot more.

look on ebay.de for tuning boxes for the cayenne, if there good, they will be bought there as there are thousands more cayennes over there.

other good thing about a "box" is it can be easly removed before a trip to the dealers, so avoiding any warrenty issues.

but back to your question, i have no immeadiate knowledge of this one but it looks ok.

Upsolute are a well known Tuning Group and well respected by the GOLF consortium. I have no experience of these Tuning Boxes, but obviously these work like a 'piggy-back' system on your OEM ECU.

In all honesty, I prefer the proper re-map of the OEM ECU by the likes of DMS or GIAC or even UPSOLUTE. The reason why is because no two engines are the same although the Tuning Boxes are all setup the same.

When DMS come out to re-map your ECU, the process takes about two hours as the map is tuned to your engine to maximise performance. Like ONE234 says, it is here that any problem with your engine is amplified.

Also, re-maps are NOT detectable, as NO two maps in any OEM ECU are identical, they are similiar but not identical so a matching exercise would not be easy for the OPC.

Lastly, although 30bhp hike is claimed, dont expect the hike you would get with a Turbo as torque is only marginally increased.

so if your not completely recommending the upsolute chip which remapping would you recommend? (for 957 turbo)

I put a upsolute chip in my 04 996tt cab, really didn't notice much difference, I also own a 04 cayenne turbo, went with fabspeed, big difference, the 996tt was suppose to have more hp increase, you get what you pay for, fabspeed was 2100. the upsolute was 750. ??? go figuare

Has anyone ever heard of blowing a turbo engine (mine is an '05) from a tune? My dealer said they've had 2 blown motors in the dealership's history and they were both chipped.

That 30bhp increase is probably only over a very small rpm range as well. There just are not a whole lot of ponies to be had in a naturally aspirated motor that comes pretty well tuned from the factory already. One exception was my '05 CTS-V. Those LS6 motors came from the factory with a lot of differential-saving torque management. There was a night and day difference in torque after a little tune on that car.
