Aftermarket Nav for the Cayenne?

Can aftermarket navigation be put in an 08 Cayenne? I went to one audio guy yesterday and he said that he wouldn't even touch a Porsche Cayenne anymore because he has experienced too many electical difficulties when putting in radios etc.

I have an '08 GTS and had no problems with mine, and we have installed probably 2 dozen aftermarket navis in porsches with no issues. You have to find a more experienced shop to work on your vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought he semed a little paranoid. I'll have to find another shop. If anyone can recommend a place that they have had success with on Long Island it would be appreciated... or even a specific unit that works well. I was looking online at Kenwood and Pioneer units.

Kenwood DNX9140 or Eclipse 726E are the only ones I would recommend

The quality of the aftermarket techs have gone to pot! I am not suprised by the comment they told you. The Cayenne is as easy as an Escalade to upgrade, if not easier. I have done many also over the years.

Since Alpine came out with a new NAV, I recommend the ALpine IVA-W505, very user friendly. the kenwood has a stupid boot up screen and is very slow, though a very nice unit.

I wish I could morph some of the features of both units into 1. It seems that there aren't any real aftermarket headunits as cool as the PCM3. hate to say it, but the PCM3 with all the bells and whistles is by far the best

Alpine lost touch with reality and Kenwood has yet to figure out what is up with their menu system. Pioneer looks nice but heard a few complaints, and I really don't think there is anything left after that besides the el'cheapo's or the E' skips

Yes, a very nice unit until it starts speaking the nav commands... what the heck did they do find a text to speech chip from 1960? very nice unit though.

still pcm3 over it! over anyone of them... trust me I have played with every radio out there by now. maybe CES will hold something more promising..

uhm no!

I had the opportunity to sit down with the company that makes those as I was looking for a replacement also for the Porsche lineup of vehicles. the GUI is let over from the 70's, quality is low, and I do not believe that the company will be manufacturing that style of radio in the future for any brand'
