Question about locking cayenne

I am wondering if there is anyway to turn on a chirp or horn honk or anything when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. Our touareg has a lttle chirp that is so nice to know the locks and alarm system have been activated but so far haven't found a way to do that on the cayenne.

There is a way to make the horn honk when you lock it. It's in one of the menus on the dash. Being overseas, I can't jump into my CTT right now and be more specific, but I do remember it being an option. I also remember promptly turning it off because the horn sounds so pathetic.

Depends on the year as to which sound you get. 2006 and newer (3 button remotes with separate lock/unlock button) have a double chirp when locked. 2003,2004, and 2005 have a setting to allow the alarm horn to chirp briefly when locking, it is in the instrument cluster menus.

...aside...I just wish it would unlock all doors...or at least not freak out if you do not push it twice fast enough and lock the doors and lock the unlock feature for a few seconds.

No chirp on the Boxster as well. I have to do the same - look for the dome lights to turn on or off...easy to do in the current winter lighting.

That's another option in the menu, you can set it to unlock all doors.

On my 09CTT,i disabled the chirping or beep sound it makes when u lock it...
...cause half the time the alarm would go off instead of the beep(really handy when u get back late at night)
I was told it's a bug in the system...

My '09 GTS has the same problem!

About 25% of the time I lock the doors, the alarm sounds! It's f-ing annoying, especially considering it wakes up my sleeping 4 month old baby!

I like receiving an audible confirmation, but the alarm going off is a big problem. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't replicate the problem, so they just wrote it off.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed???

In my 04 Turbo its in the menu to have the horn honk or turn signals flash when locking. Main menu > Settings...

I have an 09 GTS and had the same issue during the first month or two of ownership. Not sure if it was a problem with the car though. I think I was holding the panic button on the side while locking the car. Made a conscious effort to avoid the panic button, and haven't set the alarm off yet.

same as RoadAmerica, my 05 ctt is programmed to honk and flash its turn signals when locking. it's sorta too loud (though i'm sure not as loud as the alarm!) so that i actually give myself and my passengers a few strides to distance themselves before arming... otherwise it's a bit jolting. i guess i live in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood

when unlocking, all doors and the hatch are set to unlock, the turn signals flash and there is NO horn. this tells me that i successfully unlocked the car. if i hear a horn, that means i pressed one too many times, or i forgot to lock it prior.

by the way, with both locking and unlocking, the mirror 'courtesy' lights come on, and remain on, which also serves as a visual cue, in case you've missed the blinking turn signals.
