Decision time, need your input

Ok guys, I have been thinking about this for a while but now need to make a decision. I have a 09 CS with Fabspeed bypass and bmc filter. Happy with the sound but its a bit quiet for me and acceleration is not great.(after i installed the 21 inch GTS rims and tires, they feel heavy) Recently i lost to a rangerover sport supercharged 06 model. Which is mid 7 0-60 car.

Just spoke to fabspeed, they can do Fabspeed exhaust, EVO vflow intake, Fabspeed tips and EVOMSIT ECU tune for under 5k installed.

Should I do it??? Appreciate your opinion!

Save your money. Buy an 08 Turbo. The market is down. 500 hp and some mods help later. You won't lose to much of anything after that.

That will take twice as long. I have seen some 08 Cayenne Turbo's go for mid 70's. In great shape and low miles. The Pana turbo is twice that.

I agree, adding stuff the bolt on stuff is going to help a little, but won't give you huge gains.

if you're not going to buy a faster car because the PCM sucks, then sure - spend the 5k to get 20hp, and still lose to everything...

Sell, get an 04 turbo, spend 15k in mods and smoke more stuff than should be reasonable. Your 09 CS is a 6900 lb car with far less HP than it needs, and adding 15 or 20 or even 50 by spending 5k won't make a huge difference. Spend the 5k going to a turbo, hell even an 09 turbo, or find an 06-08 turbo S...

the PCM is just what it is... I hate my PCM 2.0 in my 04 turbo but love everything else about it.

04 Turbo will cure the pain but to be certain, an 06 Turbo S will be hard to beat in its stock form. They are rather rare but if you're patient, you'll find one.

Thanks all. i just dont see myself going to a car that is 4-5 years older. And what is the rationale behind getting a first gen turbo? after the tuning package, my cs should be around 440hp/420 lbs torque, which is not too far behind the 450hp/457 torque from the first gen turbo. The 0-60 number for the turbo was 5.9. A GTS with manual tran is 5.7 with 405/369, i dont see how i cant achieve 5.9 with the tune up.
Now 08+ turbo is a different story...

i agree that the performance improvement might be somewhat marginal, but the sound and feel aka responsiveness are also very important to me, which i hope to achieve with intake/exhaust and ecu tuning...

The GTS with manual tranny has 4.11 gears vs. the 3.55s in all other Cayennes. The gearing difference accounts for the 4 tenths difference to 60 between the tip GTS and manual GTS. Even though an older turbo is rated slower 0-60, it's probably quicker overall vs. a manual GTS.

That's one of the reasons I enjoy driving my GTS. It's not quick compared to a new Turbo, but it's fun to drive. At the end of the day all SUVs are slow... some are just slower than others

You said it well, i think that the torque is what matters the most in heavy cars. Car and driver was able to achieve 6.0 0-60 in a 08 caynne s. then again, its C/D. I just want to feel a little bit more pull, hear a little bit more sound and not get beaten by a Range Rover Sport, that's all

The Cayenne's are only around 5200 lbs, the 6900 lbs you are referring to is most likely the GVW.

The Range Rover Sport is supercharged, write it off to forced induction.

Its also about 600-800 lbs heavier? on paper the cayenne s is suppose to be faster. But the RRSS does have a big torque advantage.
