GTS vs S

Hello all! Im in the market for a Cayenne. I was looking for a Turbo or Turbo S...but my wife and I have been talking and since we have a 5 month old son it would be smarter to buy a GTS or even a S and save the money for our sons future.

Heres my question: Whats the big difference in the GTS vs S. I know the GTS has more power and torque and sport mode exhaust. Other then that is the GTS worth the extra money?

so wat do u get for the $20K+ difference? personally i dont think it's worth the money. so, lets see, you get the body kit, the 21" wheels and better suspension. for most ppl, the S is more than enough to fit your "SUV" needs... save the money and buy a 997 "beater" to go along with the cayenne if you need to fulfill your "sports car" urges... for me SUV's are what they are which is glorified grocery and baby haulers...

yeah, you can do software, exhaust, airbox, etc... i think you will have all the power you will really need. plus hauling around a 5 mo old, how fast should you really be going?

most people seem to be doing more on the visual end (lowering, wheels, etc.)... again, personally i'll save more mods for the sports car. this car is meant to be the workhorse of the stable... i was tempted with our Denali to lower it w/ 22's... i kept it stock... just added ipod adapter and a thule box for family trips and its been great. just like the Cayenne S, the 6.2L motor is MORE than enough HP... even if i need to tow.

If I was in the market for a Cayenne, it would be the GTS or the Turbo, nothing less.

Thats what ill probably do. Like aKim47 said..with a 5 month old in the car how fast should I be going? When it comes down to it I dont need the turbo...and for the money the GTS isnt really worth it. Dont get me wrong I love power and speed! and If it was just my wife and I id be getting the turbo, but I'm gonna play it smart and just save the money and go with the S with a few mods.

Well the biggest difference nobody mentioned, you can get a manual trans in the GTS. For some like myself that's worth it alone even compared to the turbos power, if you want a manual trans then it's up to you if you want to pay the extra for the GTS.

I think it would be a blast to drive a GTS in a manual...but with a small child in the back and thinking of the future I think it would be safer for me to get an automatic.

If money is a concern, why buy a Cayenne? They're expensive to buy, expensive to maintain and aren't terribly reliable.

Hmmmm - I def have to respond to that statement (not personal)
I think the buyer is more concerned with the value spread he will achieve for the extra $20K and not so much with the vehicles initial cost.

Expensive to buy = YES if you buy new. Pre-owned are a great val

Expensive to Maintain = YES if you only go to the dealer. Gas mileage though is for sure an issue.

Aren't Terribly Reliable = You must have been burned by a cayenne to say that - Maybe an 04???? Mine def is rock solid and the only issues after 25K miles has been 1 broken gas release and a bad PCM screen. That was $1200 worth of repairs. I personally find that you can lay into these trucks the same as a 911 without any negative mechanical recourse.

Choose GTS

GTS is a better car for sport, the suspetion set 20mm lower, more standard opinion , exhaust sound can compare to a lot of sport car, better seat.

if the 25k money is not a problem , go for it.

actually if you want to upgrade from Cayenne S to GTS, it will cost more.
but if you just want a Cayenne has power, doesn't care too much about the opinions, get a cayenne s.

He said he and his wife wondered if they should buy the less expensive vehicle and save the money for his son's future.

I think I set a record on the cheapest price for a brand new GTS when I purchased mine.

... these vehicles have a lot of known problems that can be extremely expensive to fix if you're paying the bill.
