CTT Secondary Cat Converters
CTT Secondary Cat Converters
for all of you that have gone to the Cat by-pass pipes, is anyone interested in selling the old original cat's for a reasonable price?
Hey. Just to help you out... and maybe its because I've not had my morning coffee -
Are you asking if yours is worth anything ?
OR
Are you looking to purchase someones ?

I think I'm just going to take the plunge and gut mine as well. I was thinking at first to get a used pair to gut and keep my originals as backup but given the minimal impact to emissions testing by removing the secondaries, I'm just going to do it.
As for turbulent flow... well... we will see
I also sourced a local set of cats for $100!! still working on it though...

I see you also have an Allroad. Search for "Piggy Pipes" on the Audiworld or Audizine forums. Gutting these cats has worked really well on the 2.7T motor.
I'm familiar with the piggy pipes... however, I haven't done that mod to my Allroad because its my wife's car and I don't think she is looking for a more aggressive exhaust tone LOL
I have however gutted the cat on my 91 Corrado G60 and never had any problems ie: no turbulent flow issues that I could subjectively feel.

What are the performance improvements from deleteing the secondary cats on a 2008 CTT? Do the gutted cats mork any different then the bypass pipes/? Are they simply there to pass an emmissions inspection?
not sure if there are performance improvements, & I suspect if there are, the bypass pipes would probably flow the best and therefore yield the most HP gains.
I'm personally doing it more for the sound. I would like something a little louder/deeper sounding. My understanding is that the secondary cats were intended to reduce exhaust noise and not necessarily improve emissions. At least this is what I have heard from some techs.
Because the secondary cat does have ceramic internally, I'm sure it serves some function for emissions but probably not enough to impact emissions testing.
