TPMS Question

My father in law is away and let me use his Cayanne for a few days while my truck was getting fixed. It was filthy, so yesterday I decided to give it a good wash before taking it back. It looks great, but now the TPMS lights are on. On the picture of the car in the mesage center in the dash (where u scroll thru the radio/ nav/ etc) it didn't dispaly anything for the front tires, and 3-4 psi on the rears.

It drove it tonight, and the warning lights still come on with the same readings on the picture of the car. When I scrolled thru the message center, and came back to the picture of the car and the psi, they were all displaying the correct psi (same as before I washed it), but the TPMS lights were still on.

I have other cars with TPMS (non-Porsche) and never had an issue after washing. Does it just need time to dry out, although I'm not sure how washing caused it?

TIA

Check the TP values on the door to ensure you have proper inflation, you could just be down a couple of lbs on the back...

I don't know why I never thought of that... IIRC, it was showing 34 in front and 30 psi rears, but I'll check it out when I can.

Thanks

I think the rears should be closer to 40. I know the pressures are something I NEVER run mine at, so disabled it.
Maybe washing it cooled the air in the tires down - Probably just coincidence.

I think they are 18" wheels, but I'll check the psi as soon as I can. Thanks for the help.

I am curious as to why the rears are inflated 10 lbs more then the front?

That makes 2 of us. The CS doesn't run a staggered setup.

Its ridiculous and why I don't use the TPMS. Like most, you can not 'set' the pressures it looks for; its pre-set.

I run 32 front AND rear. Runs just great at 8 or 80 mph. Handles and rides better too.

Turns out he was having problems with the sensors before, and has to take it in.
