I have tried, but I believe it plays back just the stereo version, vs. the 5.1...I haven't checked but think my SACD of Peter Gabriel Up and Sting Sacred Love have both versions...sounds good, but does not sound like all channels are being reproduced on the SACD. Anyone else try?

Haven't tried, but I don't think the Burm supports SACD. Unfortunately, SACD and DVD-A are dying formats. Listening to DVD Audio on the Burmester has been a lot of fun. For any Beatles fans out there (who isn't!), "Love" is available on DVD Audio, in 5.1 format. I guarantee you've never heard them sound like that until you listen to them in surround sound through the Burmester!

+1 on on Sacd being a dead format. Only true audiophiles listen to that format and it is not cheap. Only a select few are into it as a result it never lasted. Also not sure how good it would sound in car due to difficult sound staging. In my house house I have a highend home theater that is more expensive than my cayman and Sacd sounds great. Not to totally go off subject but my friend who works for Lipinski Sound brought over a Bluray music cd that was the best quality sounding music i have ever heard in my life. I hope to eventually see blueray in cars for music in the future.

Thanks, just ordered Love. Also try Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on DVD-Audio...a great recording, too. Very dynamic. I have been enjoying DVD-Video concerts (audio only plays back, no video) and has been a great amount of fun. Sting Live in Berlin is outstanding, as are U2's live DVDs.

Thanks for the explanation,I will save buying sacd s for when I upgrade my home system
I have "Love" among other groovy dvd-a offerings that I am excited to try on the B..The Autobahn will be alive with the sound of music...
I have thought of hooking up a bluray player(portable,or my laptop)of course, but am not sure about best way to connect it....

So school me in guys. Which format is the best for a Burmester equipped Cayenne (is it DVD-A 5.1 ?) and where do you buy these discs ? I've heard 5.1 DTS is the best ??

To my ears DVD-A sounds the best. Most are 5.1, but some are 2.0. I got a live Bonnie Rait in DTS surround, not as good as DVD-A. Amazon has some, fairly good collection at http://www.grooves-inc.com/. If you're into the Dead, American Beauty in 5.1 blew me away. Unfortunately its out of print, so I had to spend $40 on ebay, but well worth it. Workingman's Dead is amazing too, although it's in DVD 2.0.

Thank you. I only wish the XM was of a higher audio quality. I just love the sound of the CD's on the Burmester but the satellite radio is a different thing altogether.

I use the DVD-Video discs a lot...of course, no video image but if you have great concert DVDs, the sound is great, and you will surely enjoy. Many of the U2 tours are on DVD-V and are in DTS 5.1 and sound really good. Another favorite of mine is Sting's new Live in Berlin DVD-V - sound is really awesome.
