Added new steering wheel

Did the swap this morning. Got the wheel as a gift. Now I got to try and get some more CF for the interior.

I took one of my disposable screw drivers and gave it a slight bend. Which is now the new Porsche Airbag removal tool. This flexes the spring all the way and the bag just pops out. No fighting with the bag. I also used a Torx T55 for the center bolt. No real torque on the bolt but did add some blue locktite back on it when reinstalling. This was one of the easiest steering wheel swaps I ever had to do.

I see on some posts about losing the heated function. I like the feel of the new wheel and enjoy it more then the factory wheel. Would it have been nice to still have the heated function, definitely. But I haven't had a heated steering wheel in all my rides over the last 20 years, so i don't think I'll miss it. Never got to experience it on this ride or at least I don't think so. Maybe it's a great thing to have but maybe one day I will get to experience it.

Looks fantastic! Can you tell me in which direction do you apply the pressure to the spring to get the airbag off? Do you push it straight into the wheel, push it down, or pull it up, or...? And is it allot of pressure or...? TIA!

Once the screw driver is in and you pry down you will feel the spring tension.

Thanks es201nj! So when you say you pry down, I assuming you're prying the spring toward the center of the wheel and pulling the handle of the screwdriver upward, correct? Or is it the other way around?

No, your going to pry down toward the steering column. Why I bent the screwdriver to get more leverage. The position of the screwdriver is exactly the way you need to have it. Once you push the screwdriver in and start to pry down toward the column you'll feel the spring tension.

Your going to want to turn the wheel to get the other side. You can either put something under the front wheels to turn the steering wheel easier or jack up the front. In order to do that you'll have to take the panel down first. I made a special thing to lift the front of the Cayenne without any issues. Here are some pics if you want to whip something up.

Thanks again - very helpful. Love your jack too but I don't have the materials to do something like that. I'll figure it out though. Appreciate your help!
