Cayenne and e85

Cayenne and e85
FYI.
I have been running a mix of e85 and 93 in the CTT for about a year now. I've tried mixes between 25-35% ethanol. I find that about 30% runs the best. Makes a huge difference on my CTT. Starts faster, even in the cold, boost comes on faster, runs wayy smoother. totally different sound and more power/torque. If your ear is trained you can really tell the computer is adding a lot of advance. I have had no trouble with starting in temps down to about 25 degrees. I dont get a check engine light, ever.
Flame on.

wow what's going on here? Any modification done to run E85?
I'm actually been researching the french and german site. Those guys been running 50/50 also 100% on cayenne turbo 955 without much modification done to the car. gain 50hp alone from switching to E85 and 75+ nm of torque. Since E85 is such a high octane equivalent to 105+ octane gasoline. I think if you're planning to run E85 full time or 50/50 maybe have your ECU tuned to run it so that way you're getting the most out of the engine and fuel.

It's just not a new topic. It's been discussed and....... if it works for you GREAT. No flaming required.
Part of what "most" (my word not anyone elses) discerning Porsche, or other exotic/expensive/finicky car owner believes is that there is no reason to mess with "what ain't broke". If E85 offered 1/2 price or something appealing, I might look at it. But, since my P's run perfectly, start instantly, idle superbly.. there's no reason to "experiment" with my gas unless Porsche sends me a memo stating that E85 is now "N-Spec". As it were.

I drive about 30-40k miles per year so the savings adds up. My Cayenne runs SOOO much better using a blend. Heck, there is already 10% in your fuel and soon the government is going to make you swallow 15%. I just feel as if its time to embrace it. At least on turbo cars with a lot of reserve power built in such as the Cayenne. If the Cayenne can make 60 or 70 more horse on a tune then Im sure that the injectors have enough reserve to handle the added flow of using e85 to a point.
If you look at the link and download the info on that page, you will see that Porsche recognizes the presence of ethanol and approves it for use in certain models manufactured after a certain year.
Here is a nifty little e85 calc. that is handy for those interested in blending.

I have decided that for what a quality tune cost, Im just going to get a standalone like the ProEFI 128 and start to piggyback it into my car with the intention of converting to e85 permanently, and using a fuel sensor so I can run reg gas as well when e85 is not available.
Tried with 50/50 mix today. Not sluggish running well. No weird back fire or weird throttle response. Will see how the fuel consumption goes. Felt slow at first after 10 minute drive once the road opened up a bit. Was able to floor it. The car felt like it have a bit more kick mid range to upper rpm range. Not proven fact but purely based on the butt dyno.
Subscribed, LOTS of E85 around here. Already have a tune so I will be interested to hear how this goes. Might be worth trying/data logging air/fuels, lambdas, IATs, etc.

Wow thanks for the link. Poor bloke
I did read alot too and I only think 2012 and newer are even recommended to run e85.
I learned the hard way on my Supra LTS boat with Ethanol blended fuel.......turns to turpentine if you dont burn it fast enough. Had to drain the tank and get a new fuel pump.
Just my .02 cents and now Im subscribed for better thinkers out there......

Why does that make me a "Poor Bloke"? I thought forums like these were for the advancement of Cayenne, not insults or name calling. I don't see many other people on the 955 venturing into uncharted territory.
I doubt the use of e85 caused my chipped/burned valve. Seems that Im not the only p-car cayenne or otherwise that has experienced this. Not to mention scuffed cylinders on new engines for no apparent reason or broken valve springs from heat and age. Please contribute some knowledge or refrain from soiling my posts with your negativity. Thank you.
Unless I missed something, I interpreted that typical British expression from "Steve.zdravko" as his attempt to empathize for your situation. I am pretty sure this was not intended to offend or attack.
