Problems with 22s? And help me out, I'm ordering a CTT!
Well it's official, the E55 is going. As far as the car itself goes, it is amazing, so much power my organs are all splattered against the back of my ribcage. However the AMG wheels havent worked for me, the seats are a defect that hasnt been documented in any other E55 at dealerships in the area, even though all salesmen agree they are a problem. They wont replace them etc. Anyways, it's about time anyways, going on 2 1/2 years..
So after having a bad time with wheel breakage, I am for sure going aftermarket. But the awesome looks of 22s are NOT worth even one flat that would have been prevented by 20s. Not to mention bent rims. So, any owners had problems? Especially those with thicker sidewalls?
I am more or less bent on a Cayenne Turbo as opposed to a new S600, Maserati QP Sport GT, etc. So I'm willing to do a few basic mods that wont cause any headaches at the dealership.. Not to mention keep it quiet and seeming stock aside from wheels. So I'm looking at:
Wheels
Cat bypass pipes
ECU
Filters
Lowering module
New boost diverter (stratmosphere)
I feel like I'm forgetting something. I know I made a post a while back, but anyone feel free to chime in about anything said above. Especially certain brands you especially prefer. I'm looking especially at HRE wheels, those are quality not to mention great looks.

In my opinion 22s are a must on the cayenne. I bought mine with the sport techno 20s and they just look too small. They really dont fit the car well in my opinion, theyr beautiful rims but not too small. As far as the 22s go I've had mine for just under 5,000 miles and theyve been fine. They ride is harsh on bad pavement but not too much worse than 20s. As far as tires go the ones i had on my 20s Pzeros were more expensive and wore down faster than the 22s scorpion zero. I say go 22s cuz 20s just look too small, now adays u can get 20s on like every sports car and sedan and the cayenne is twice the size of most of them.
I went with everything Cargraphic and I am happy with it, including 22" wheels. I have HRE's on several of my cars and I love them, but I did not to put them on my CTT because driving in the rain HRE's have a vibration and balance problem and the CTT is my daily driver. I went with the GIAC chip and it is great and have had no problems. I would reccommend going with a sport exhaust system and leave the secondary cats on, I had to put my cats back on after my family complained about not being able to talk during road trips. I also went with Cargraphics lowering module and it has worked great.

I asked about the secondary cat bypass pipes earlier and people said very little noticeable extra noise while cruising, only if the windows are down or if you are outside. Otherwise the car is supposedly still quiet. How have you liked the wheels? Has anyone gotten flats with 22s?
The 22 should not be a problem on the CTT. The sidewall is still quite thick and you should not have to worry about potholes that much. Bypass pipes and ecu will gain you a significatn amount of power. The lowering module is nice, but does not lower the car that much imo except for loading level which still cannot be activated while moving. Hope this helps.
BDH, how much did that front lip run you? It looks like you're still a good inch above normal sedan height in the front, which is great for speed bumps, parking blocks, etc. I really like what youve done with the car! Not to mention the rest of your garage is amazing..
