2004 Key/Alarm/Battery problems

I've googled this a ton and have found conflicting info so I thought I would ask here.

Basically when I put the metal key in the Ignition it kills the power on everything, almost as if the whole car short circuited and locks the key in place. I then put a Battery Jumper it immediately comes back to life, drives fine, even will restate fine. But like every third time the same thing happens. Sometimes switching keys will also bring it back online. The alarm system and the plastic key have been wonky for awhile now as well.

I have read about relay issues etc.

Before I drop some serious coin at a dealer anyone have an idea on what is causing this and is it something I can fix myself.

Thanks in Advance.

Sorry about that didn't mean to bump so many times. Thought it didn't go through.
