Lowering springs and/or 22"s?

I'm thinking about upgrading to 22's and maybe lowering springs. I've got a CS, without air suspension, on 20" Champion RG97's, and I'd like to get that lowered look. I'd be interested to hear anyone's opinions on their experience with lowering springs & 22" wheel combinations. Any opinions on doing one vs. the other, or both? Any recommendations on which springs? I'm looking for something that will give me a balance between appearance and ride quality.

Def lower and get 22's. rinspeed or techart formulas are classics IMO.

i think a tech art or rinspeed springs drop about 40mm (1.57") should ride comfortably on 285/35-22" tires. might even want to throw new shocks in to adjust dampening.

both the Formulas or C5/1s look great. no matter what 22" cast wheel you put on your CS, you will sacrifice a little ride quality.

Get the KW coilovers if youre going 22's.. I've tried the Techart/Eibach on my S only with 20's and it was bone jarring...

I havent tried HR springs on a cayenne, but as far as Jamy the ride was ok..
He has HR springs and 22 gemballas

TechArt and Rinspeeds are two of my favorites, (but 23"s are a bit too much..) I'll look into different shocks too...
Thanks!

I fear you're right about coilovers being the best solution, but a bit pricey! Firmer ride is fine, but I want to avoid, "bone jarring". Sounds like I should look into H&R's?

Thanks!

I have a set of 22" formula wheels with H&R spring setting previously. It looks great, but the ride is rather harsh and bouncy. After doing some search online and found out Bilstein do offer a set of B8 suspension to cope with the lowering H&R springs, I then placed my order for a set and installed it yesterday. Finally...I can feel some damping from the shocks.

Rinspeed C5/1s are now available in 22" for Cayenne, Range Rover, etc. Check with Peter at Wheelexperts to verify.

cayennehk-thanks for the tip! I'll do some homework.

sumat-c 5/1's in 22" sound very good! I'll check with Peter per your suggestion. I'd really like them in anthracite.

regarding that you have CS without air suspension that’s better for you. Because you’re going to save a lot of money the lowering system for the air suspension cost $2500 but your car will cost you around $600 Of course your car will be nicer when you lower it but not as comfortable as the factory suspension. If I’m going to do it I’ll go with the techart
