Proper Way to Debadge?

What is the best way to debadge? Dental floss and some goo-gone sound about right?

Thanks.

Oh, and thanks to those that answered my tire questions for the 20" Sport Technos tread, I'm still not allowed to reply on the forum.

I am lost. Are you embarrased of your porsche? I would think taking off the badge is not the best.

i found the best way is to use an adhesive remover (3m is good) spray it all over the badge, keep a rag undernear to prevent runoff and use a hairdryer to heat up the badge which losens the adhesive on the back of it. works real well just be careful

I think he is probably refering to model inscription... Not the porsche badge.

Hair dryer also helps in addition to what has already been said. And Goo Gone will pwn the adhesive for you.

you won't need the adhesive remover. After you "cut" the emblem of with floss the adhesive and foam will just peel off easily with your fingers... After doing it twice I can get the whole piece off in one long pull.

Just make sure to wash and wax afterwards- you don't want to leave even an inch unprotected.

I debadged for the sake of anonymity- don't need to attract people who might steal or vandalize. Plus, LIL RAJA is right, imho- "debadged is always cleaner."

That may work on a new car but if the car has any miles on it, it will be necessary. I just spent 1.5 hrs on my A4 taking the rear rings off--the adhesive was a *****. I also needed it on the 997S, although it was somewhat easier.

Regardless, debadged is the way to go. They are useless clutter.
