Cayanne S questions...

Hello All,

I recently looked at a 2005 Cayanne S for a possible next car and i was wondering a few things about the vehicle...any help is greatly appreciated as i am new to the German car world (see sig )

1. What are the performace possibilites with this motor?
2. Will a modified exhaust sound "mean" like the Cayanne turbos ive heard modded?
3. Reliability...what can i expect in this area?
4. For those who have owned one for a while, are the seats comfy for long trips? I am in the car A LOT and have to have a nice comfy seat

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jon,
I have a 2006 V6 Cayenne, and have driven the S. If you follow the threads and digest all of the input from the oh-so-very-knowledgeable members of this board, you will see that there are a lot of mods available for the S.
I drove with my wife and 3 kids for 12 hours straight to family in the midwest with few breaks and no complaints- we were all very comfortable.
My car has been to the dealer for an oil change and to swap wheels and tires- and that is it.
I love the sound of the S with a modded exhaust- real throaty.
Good luck with your decision, you can't go wrong with either a Cayenne S or a Turbo.

the car has been reliable for me.
i have had put 23k miles and some long distance driving.
i had no complains, the seats are great. Although i wish i had the softer leather sometimes. but don't think it would make a difference. a few has modified exhaust and it sounds great. search for a clip or contact meanmachine or visit fabspeed webpage for clips.

Thanks guys...i will keep lookin around for more info on these trucks.

I think i may have to step back one year to a 2004 in order to get the "S" due to pricing (~45,000 is what i have to spend)...anything to look out for on an 04? Big services? Bugs or gremlins?

Thanks again...i feel like a Cayenne is the best choice for me if i MUST get an SUV...seems closest to a car out of all the other options...

with budget of 45k you should be able to get a nice CS.
i was just talking to someone who bought a CS with 22k miles and i think it was 05. u just to look harder. the market is flooded right now with cayenne vs. 2/3 years ago. you have more flexiblity. You can easily get 10-11k off a new one. the msrp is mid 50s for a new one minus discount and few options, i think you shoudl be able to pick up a new 06 with little options for 50k range
and u would get better interest rate along with new car 2.
good luck!

I have a 06 Cayenne S and love it. If I had the money to buy the turbo, I would, but I plan on doing some mods to help boost the performance. Like you, I must have an SUV and I drive a lot. I did a lot of research and the Cayenne S was the perfect blend of SUV and sports car. I suggest driving the Cayenne V6 then driving the Cayenne S, because you don't want to buy the V6 then realize there is not enough power.

I didn't drive the Turbo because I knew I would want it but couldn't afford it.

Get the S...

I love my V6, but an S would be better if I was going to keep it. When my Audi goes off lease (at the end of this year) the Cayenne goes to Mrs. BobbySpeed, and I will be in the market for a C4S.
