Question to those with Navigation

How often do you use it? More importantly, if you didn't have it would you get a retrofit?

I'm considering getting one but not sure whether it is worth the cost and hassle. Thanks guys.

I will NOT buy another car WITHOUT Nav. It is such a nice thing to have, especially if you live in a big city. That being said there is a hefty price tag to retrofit it in the cayenne.

I agree, it is a must to have.

If I am understanding correctly, you do not have the factory unit, I would suggest aftermaket equipment (Eclipse, Pioneer, Panasonic, etc.)

Those manufacturers offer more integrated products to the nav units like bluetooth, reverse camera, satellite/HD radio, etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Since I want to keep the OEM look, I'm going to see how much it will cost to retrofit the Porsche nav. I think there's a CD and DVD based navigation for the Cayenne.

Besides the head unit, what other part do I need to get (tuner, DVD unit, etc.)?

You should go for the DVD unit. No, you must go for the DVD unit. I believe the tv tuner is not mandatory to have your nav working and its useless while driving. I guess there are some add-ons to make it work but it doesnt worth the money.

Let us know what the dealer quotes you.....especially just on the NAV system....I am planning on removing my NAV with all the components to add the new Pioneer in-dash....so I can get the live XM traffic updates....and a few more goodies installed.....my system is in great shape and i still have the protective film on the screen itself....keep us posted....i might be removing my NAV this week.....

I agree with everyone else here in saying that it is useful to have the NAVI, but I'm not sure HOW useful it is... I probably use mine only once a week... but if you were to get to, get the DVD unit.

And I would go see if you like the format for yourself, I would have liked it a lot better/use it more if it were a touch screen instead of having to scroll through everything.

i had it, it was decent. but i would get the aftermarket if your car does not have one. it would cost about 4k to put it in with it all. Aftermarekt would set u back 1,500 and much better feature, but it will not be flush like the OEM that is the only downside.
