My wife's Cayenne S had this past Friday a mayor engine failure
My wife's Cayenne S had this past Friday a mayor engine failure, a lot of coolant fluid loses; we did stop immediately after the warning light came.
Then we add fluid and everything ok. The engine did not get overheated but then after terrible, terrible noise
We did Service a week a go and in fact the Dealer is taking this Monday the car back to the shop.
This is my wife's ride and she baby the car.
We had some other minor problems with this 04' Cayenne and after this we are thinking to change it. A car with less than 19k miles, well maintained I think is just bad luck.
The point is that she likes the Cayenne a lot and we do not see such a big jump to buy a new Cayenne S and the Turbo is out of the equation (room for my '10 Panamera). However, the New '08 Cayenne look really temping, much faster than the old one and close to old "S", where the new "S" have no such a big jump in performane compared witht he old ones.
+ it is a new car and is comfortable to ride....
Has any body here drive one?

If you had service recently , you think it;s the dealers fault? no way you will eat that much coolant that quick....didi they do a flush?hmmmm
btw the new cayenneS is better perormance wise, you really have to push it
to see the difference, or maybe the fact that I came from a Turbo not an S..
Check rennlist also if somebody had this issue..

Well the up-date on my wife’s '04 Cayenne S with 17k miles on the clock needed to replace the water pump, where the car is not under warranty now
....
The dealer said that they have changed 2 more '04 with the same problem.
We may be thinking to change it and now we are wainting to see how much will be the trade-in value.
By the way, I have spoken with some poeple here and they said that the new V6 runs really really good very close to old S vesions.
Can somebody confirm that?
On the paper is 1.2 sg slower that the old S and has the same gaing in hp& tq than the new S; however, the new V8 runs only 0.8 sg faster.
I am going to test drive one in a frew days.
Thanks!

I test drove several 06 S's and 08 V6's back to back when I was looking to purchase. The V8 was more powerful, no doubt, it just muscled thru the gears. The V6 struggled when you got on it hard, but it did alright. The difference was not enough to pay the extra for the V8. I bought the V6 and it does fine, on the freeway I have set the cruise at 90+ and it always stayed in 6th gear even up hills, I am very happy with it.
If I was towing something heavy on a regular basis I would get the V8. No matter what engine you get it's still in a 2.5 ton truck, not a race car.

Thanks FrankM, I appreciated.
How does the new V6 doing "of the line" compared witht eh old S?

i have driven the new v6s and they are not bad.
it just seems a tad slow if you have driven the v8 and pushed it.
but for normal daily driving the v6 is more than GREAT.
