Anybody here replace there stock halogen foglight to HID?
Which brand HID and what kelvin?

This is my next project, I want my foglight to match the headlight. Maybe I might get the 5000k for the headlight and foglight. Perfect match.

I bought one of their kits because my cayenne came with halogen headlights, I also bought the resistors to prevent errors but when I got the kit I wasnt able to install the bulbs correctly because the housing doesn't have the neccesary clip to hold the bulb in, I then tried to crazy glue the bulb in (ghetto) but when I turned them on I got a 'headlight dipped' error and one of the bulbs wouldn't come on half the time, that plus the fact that im sure that the heat from the bulbs would have melted the glue and I probably would have burned up my housing made me take the whole kit out.

 

That is terrible.
Did you buy the right hid kit? I though the halogen bulb are just push in , and twisted on.

 

they are, and i thought the HID kit would have the same type of push in twist system but it required a metal bracket to bend over and hold the bulb into the hole which the Porsche housing doesnt have. Maybe someone will come out with a Cayenne specific kit instead of a universal set up that fits most but not all.

 

whats the part number hid you ordered? (H7 or H11)

 

Finally completed the HID foglights conversion.

H11 5000k for fog lights
D1S 5000k low beam
H7 5000k high beam (must use a special adaptor to secure the HID bulbs in place)

The color from the 5000k matches the led lights perfectly.

Turbostang, I'm confused.

Didn't your Turbo already come with Bi xenons? Did you change out the stock bulbs for a different set?

 

My turbo already come with Bi Xenon, I change the stock
4300k (white with a hint of yellow) to 5000k (bright white) to match up with the led lights.

If you consistently flashes the high beam, the HID conversion is not recommended.

The HID kit I installed on the high beam side of the cayenne is for testing purposes. The HID kit and the required adaptors are for my brother in law VW GTI. His vehicle did not come HID. I'll be do the installation this weekend.

 

I've read on a few other forums that in a projector style headlamp(like we have) the 5000k is actually outputting less light than the 4300k bulb have you noticed a difference?

 

No difference except the color. The 5000k outputing a nice bright white light on the road, not a hint of yellow like the oem 4300k.
The 6000k D1S I tested had a hint of blue, the hint of blue produce a little less light than the 4300k.
You will notice a difference between the 4300k vs 6000k.
