Loaded CS vs Basic CT...

I realize this has potential to become a "personal preference" debate. That's not what I am after. What I am really putting on the table here, is this:
My Porsche salesman once told me: "When it comes to resale values, any car is a gun shot victim. All you can do is slow down the bleeding." Remembering that, should one be considering a Basic CT, if by price a loaded CS falls very close (let's say around 10%).
Again, strictly from a "financial common sense" perspective. Or is that also too personal?

The basic turbo comes nicely equipped standard, so if the price difference is close enough go for the turbo! Also, my guess is that the turbo will likely hold its value better unless gas prices get real out of hand.

Closer to $5/gallon premium is what I had in mind.

Upgrades/factory options add almost nothing when it comes time to trade it in...

I don't agree with the insurance costs. Not sure if it's just me, but my CTT only costs $85/month and that's with the 7yr 100K mechanical failure warranty included. Without it, it's $75/month.

I am pretty sure my premiums will be in the $200 per month range for a CT. (If I am lucky)

Never heard a CTT owner say that they wish they had a CS... Or any Turbo owner of any model for that matter. Go with the TT, you won't regret it!

From a financial perspective get the Turbo hands down. You will be lucky to get 10 cents on the dollar on the options on the loaded CS. I know as I'm an option nut. My Cayenne Turbo had a base of 106,000.00 and an msrp of 156,295.00. I knew going into it that I will take a beating come time to trade/sell.

Doesn't this really depend on your personal financial situation? If you can afford the Turbo go for it. If the incremental price difference between a CS and a Turbo makes you think twice you probably should get the CS. Also a Turbo (optioned like it should be) is almost twice (if you factor in tax) the price of a CS (optioned).

Also buying a car is no longer just a financial decision its also an emotional decision. You also need to determine how much personal "utility" / enjoyment / satisfaction you'll get from the car. Is the incremental enjoyment of a CTT vs a CS worth the extra money? --> if you have a huge bank account probably. If you are financing a huge chunk for the CTT then probably not.

Here is what I am faced with: I have optioned out a CS that came to $120K CAD with tax. I can pick up a lightly optioned CTT in the States for under $100K that with all the export/import expenses will run me about the same $120K. Four years later there will be a $15-20K difference on resale. While I don't need the extra power of the Turbo and would much rather have my cognac interior, pano, and entry and drive, I really would not like to lose any more money than I have to. I can't decide.
