Kinda a dumb question about how much you got off and taxes
Kinda a dumb question about how much you got off and taxes
When you purchased your Cayenne, and if you got a discount, say either a set dollar amount like $5,000 or 6%, did your dealer take that off your MSRP, then charged you tax for your county/state, or did they charge you the tax first based on the MSRP, then they took off the $ amount?
Just wondering what you guys have seen.

sale price was exactly half way between MSRP and invoice for base car and all options with a max of $125 for all fees. Sales tax calculated on negotiated sales price. Cayenne S with MSRP at 93,000ish - just arrived at the dealer today.
This is black and white there is no choice by the dealer. Tax is on the actual sales price...and if that includes a discount so be it.
For those that are curious sales tax is added on top of the gas guzzler tax...which is one of the only instances a tax is levied on a tax. I know this since the dealer did that to me on my M3 but after I researched it I found that there is a loophole which allows this. That really sucked but what can you do.
