Winter Tire Options

It seems like Pirelli ice and snow are sold out on Tirerack, so as Dunlop 3D.

Available options are:
Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1
Michelin Lattitude X-Ice XI2
Yokogama W.Drive
Pirelli Scorpion Winter
Pirelli Winter Carving Edge

Would appreciate feedback from those who had experience with above models.

I just read a bunch of reviews for all of these and the Michelins X-Ice XI2 looked real good to me. What I liked was the reports for its handling on dry roads as well as winter conditions. I want to get those but am trying to find wheels to go with them. Leaning towards Turbo II's in 20"

I have Scorpion Ice & Snows on both our Cayenne Turbos and love them. I put 19s on my wife's Cayenne & 20s on mine as it has Ceramics and 19s will not fit. Both have 21s stock.

It is my understanding that Pirelli Winter is a modern updated tread design over Ice & Snow. I have the 21 Ice & Snow and they are execellent

I don't have experience with snow tires at all, don't need them in my part of KY. But I thought you might benefit from a list of the Porsche-approved snow & ice tires.

I have a brand new set of Dunlop 3d's. less than 500 miles on them.
I sold the 20 inch wheels kept the tires.
If you want they are for sale.
Check tire racks pricing, less 10% plus shipping and they are yours

Thanks, Greg.
It seems Porsche approves V-rated tires. From my reading, they are good for dry pavement in cold weather, but not as good for snow or ice as tires with lower speed rating, for example Michelin X-Ice or Bridgestone Blizzak. Bridgestone is nosier than Michelin.

from tirerack:

Light Truck/SUV Performance Winter / Snow

You are willing to trade some snow and ice traction for enhanced dry road handling.

These tires are designed to meet the needs of winter driving on European highways and are available in the low profile sizes used as Original Equipment on cars and light trucks. They trade a little ice and snow traction for enhanced handling and high speed capability.

Light Truck/SUV Studless Ice and Snow

You want to maximize snow and ice traction without the inconvenience of using winter tire studs.

These tires feature the latest in tread design and compound technology to provide winter traction for cars and light trucks without the inconvenience of using metal tire studs. They trade a little handling and high speed capability for excellent ice and snow traction.

I've got the 21's ice & snow on an S and they run fine. The sidewall and tread give you more rubber than a summer 21" for people who are concerned.
