Cheap floor mats?

No not cheap in that way.

I have 4444 miles on my CD and swapped my carpet mats out today for the Porsche rubber mats.

When I pulled the driver's mat I was shocked to see that in such a short period of time it already has a worn area from my right heel. I think most of it will fluff back with a good brushing, but there is a spot in that area on the underside that indicates some significant damage has already occurred.

Anyone else see such wear in a short time? Are these mats that cheap or do I just have a bad set?

I plan to bring it up with the dealer next time its in for something.

The mats in our 911 are 12 years old with 65k on them and look great with no wear (a good bath and they'd probably look new). They are much more plush though.

As far as the rubber mats go, they aren't as deep as I'd like but they look pretty sturdy and are styled nice. More importantly to me is that they use the same anchor points as the carpet mats so they snap and lock in place. To me that's a nice touch that I didn't expect.

They are cheaply made. I am on my second set after only 4000km on the GTS, too bad they don't sell just the drivers side floormat as a replacement part.

Any recommendations for non-OEM plush replacements (other than WeatherTech, which of course is rubber)? Someone must make a higher quality spring/ summer/ fall mat.

That sucks. Did your dealer replace them under warranty or make you pay for them?

I also can confirm that Porsche winter rubber mats are cheaply made. After just one season driver's mat has signs of wear. I wonder how is the quality of Weather Tech mats. Their fit is much better covering underneath the gas pedal. I wish they did not put their huge logo on a side.

Weather Tech mats are excellent in fit and material. Agree, not crazy about their logo, but i hardly see it in the foot well. Definitely keep the mud and snow off the underlying carpet, wherever they are used. I use them on my SUV's and DD's, but not my sports cars.

I consider Lloyd mats to be considerably better than Porsche OE. I removed all four original beige mats when I took delivery of the car, and replaced them with dark brown Lloyd mats. Makes for a nice contrast. Very good color match with the Espresso Sunset cargo mat as well. When it comes time to sell/trade, I'll pull the nice clean OE mats out of storage and put them back in.

From what the Porsche Warranty booklet reads, floor mats are not a normal maintenance item (maintenance item: wiper blades, brake pads, shocks) and if it has unreasonable wear (hole worn thru), it should be covered under warranty. My Cayenne is 2 1/2 months old with 2000 miles and it has a very noticeable wear spot.

http://lloydmats.com/?page_id=91 in dark brown to provide some contrast in the all beige interior, while almost perfectly matching the espresso reversible cargo mat

Thanks Greg. I'm assuming that the fit is good? The only other search I came up with on any Porsche board had fitment issues.

Fit is perfect, and coverage is even better than OE

here is a photo

sorry for dirt on the mat. Lloyd mats are much higher quality and much more durable than the OEM mats.

Thanks for posting the pic. Is the mat a little darker than the carpet? I wonder if smoke color would be a perfect match?
