Yep with all these thaws and freezes over the past few weeks in Pittsburgh I was really getting nervous about those aluminum bolts and feel like I have REALLY been pressing my luck. I'll post my paperwork once I get the Cayenne back. I just watched about 10 D.I.Y. oil change videos and I think the next one is gonna be in the driveway!
Well even if Porsche replace your engine a few years back there still preforming the recall.
My service advisor stated the factory has new and improved bolts and will be 3-4 weeks to get an appointment. May take a day of 5 days depending on whats needed. So I'll be waiting for a call sometime next month.
Well friends I got my Cayenne back this afternoon! Here is the paperwork on the recall work. I was told my aluminum bolts were in perfect condition which made for an easy fix of just replacing the bolts it seems. I saw the paperwork real quick for the job and it was around $997.00 covered by Porsche obviously. I also have included the paperwork for my oil change (and a license plate bulb that was out) which doesn't include my B.Y.O.B. oil. I am so glad this is done and one less stressful thing to check off. Good luck with your recall work gents!

The replacement Variocam units don't use a security Torx - plain Torx is used. I would have to guess the same is used for the replacement bolts.

$997 for parts and labor isn't bad at all. Cheaper than their initial service bulletin which involved replacing the parts.
Just had the AH08 completed, looks exactly like what was done to TJ's rig.
When I reminded the service adviser that the engine was replaced, and may not need this work. Responed they to check and pull the valve covers.
I guess if the manufacture is paying the service department, they will do the work,perhaps at a reduced rate compared to customer repair.
took a day for repairs 1/2 day for road test and car wash.
BTW:The V-6 Cayenne is gutless (loaner) 958.2 PCM upgrade was nice and responsive
Jay I have to agree. The V6 loaner on my Pittsburgh hills was outright terrible and it was a 2017 Cayenne. It’s just too heavy for a 6 IMO. They sure do want you to know there is a $150.00 a day late fee on your loaner lol.
Was the V6 on a base Cay or CS that you had as loaners?
I've steered away from any V6 because we'll be towing with ours, but thre is a "*****en" Biscay Blue available in the new 2019s, & 2016 had Sapphire Blue too, but I don't know that the CS V6 in either 3.6 or new 3.0 (2.9L) flavors wouldn't drive us crazy on a long trip, grades, etc. with it droning away trying to work like a V8.
Hey TJ, being from PGH myself, I know exactly what you mean about the "hills"! We went there with our 88 VW Westy & 2 kids & all our gear, and .... well, you can guess!
I didn't even try old Potomac Rd. hill up to Dormont/Mt. Lebanon, but we went down it for fun, & hit some of the other smaller & still brick paved steep streets there - & both kids were DAD!!
Back in the 1960's my grandmother had a shop "Canine Castle" on W. Liberty, so I grew up gunning it up that hill - it was still brick then, but they don't give it credit for the steepest street with the bottom portion being something like 28-30 degrees, because it shallows out after the first 1/4 mile or whatever.
Did you try that Cay V6 on any of the super steep streets?
Tom, I had a 2018 base model with a V-6 (300HP)with 2000 miles,kept the 8 speed busy hunting for the right gear.
I tried to launch it in sport mode, didn't trill me... like the turbo ...must be that the extra 200hp that pins you to the seat.

For pulling the trailer, more than that 400 HP (IIRC that's the newer 2.9L, & the 3.6 was 385 HP), the CS 3.6L V6's Torque is more important, & IIRC it kicks in full at about 1850 RPM, so I'm wondering if it may be okay to tow long distances & grades without the buzz.
As TJ said - you've got to love Rusnak's biz practices! 3x on the bill about $150/day overage for the loaner! Rusnak has been a known "price gouger" since my 1970's 914 days, as was Chick Iverson in Newport Beach (still are under current owners).
Since you're here in SoCal, maybe I'll see you at one of our local Zone 8 Concours, since I judge at several a year. Both LA & Santa Barbara CdE's are fun, & LA has the Museum of Flight too boot! Bring your CT to either display or enter it in Wash & Shine or one of the Ubergang Divisions - depending on how much prep you want to do.
