Reset oil indicator without diagnostic tool?

Getting my oil changed today. Any possibility to reset the oil service interval message without a diagnostic tool?

negative, there is no button sequence that can be pushed to reset. need a durametric or find an indy shop with one to turn it off for you. a pcar shop near me charges $25 to reset light if you diy your own service and just bring it to reset. it literally takes 5 min with the laptop and software.

Mine's been coming on for the last 3500 miles. Annoying as hell, and don't have a laptop. I wonder if Durametric has ever considered making an iPad compatible version? First time it came on, my Porsche dealer wanted $35 to reset it (I changed the oil/filter myself). I shamed them into a courtesy reset that time, but not going to push my luck. On a gamble, I also bought one of those cheap VAG reset tools off eBay - only to find out they don't work on Porsche.

ouch... if I were you, I would just buy a durametric then. it'll pay for itself after a couple uses. out of those 5 min, 2-3 min is booting the computer up. lol

Ahh. Problem is i'm not a Windows PC user. Oil service indicator light isn't on yet since the Cayenne only has 6,700 miles. I'll worry about it at that time.

*EDIT* Does anyone wanna rent their Durametric Pro? I'll pay close to full amount for a new unit via Paypal with refund after return minus rental fee?

Neither am I, but I downloaded Oracle's (as much as that makes me ill) VirtualBox which is free and every bit as good as VMWare or other options for basic use. Then I picked up a copy of Windows 7 and run it in a VM.

In addition to using it for the Durametric software, you need windows and IE to use PIWIS which is also handy to have if you want to do some of the wrenching yourself.
