Surround View Camera Delay

Hello everyone, I placed my order for 16 Cayenne last month, but been told by my dealer that the surround view camera is not available now. The Porsche website says "Introduction planned for 02/2015", but I have no idea what it stands for. If any has more details about this please let me know.

It's the same system that is provided on the Touareg, which is a small camera on the underside of each side mirror, one at the front of the car and one at the back, which show on the PCM display as an all-round view when you are parking.

They should have really offered this from day one of the MY2015 in my opinion.

Yes I experienced this too on my custom order GTS. Basically my dealer said a delay May-June to actually recieve delivery. As much as I wanted this feature I decided not to wait and live without it considering I never had it before. I sat in a Panamera and played around with the surround camera and did not find it as clear as the bmw as well.. Best of luck on your choice.

I have decided to skip it, because there's a chance that it gets delay further. I had surround views in past 2 BMWs and have to say they were crystal clear... Also had a 14 Cayenne with regular backup camera, but image quality was pretty bad. Not sure about the one on Panamera, but I believe BMW's are way better as you mentioned...

What's your ETA? I got mid Jan build with estimated arrival of mid March.

Jan build with a March 27th arrival for the GTS. Just like you I was concerned of further delay and to be honest my salesman said he was told by Germany not till March for a production slot with surround camera. Not sure if that's true but waiting further for one option seemed a bit silly. I added PTV to my order in its place and I believe it's a better choice for enjoyment of the car.

Wasn't worth waiting for. I've managed to get along without it for 48 years of driving. Until it was released I'd probably be looking at a very end of run 2015 delivery. Then I'd wait to order until I knew it would be a 2016. In another year or 2 a new redesign would be out & I would be looking to trade. And the beat goes on.

Until PCM gets an update on its screen resolution, all cameras will continue to look like something out of a cheapy economy car. I wonder if the delay has to do with Porsche finally going to a HD display on PCM. Both of my BMWs have HD displays power by a dedicated Nvidia graphics card. Movies and surround camera never looked better in a car

I think the Porsche PCM screen is too small for a HD display. At the current size, the limiting factor is the resolution of the camera.
