Any problems with the 2011 Porsche Cayenne v6?

Hi I'm looking to purchase another Porsche Cayenne v6 but I just got a few questions to ask. Do they still have problems with the driveshaft and coolant pipes? The one I'm looking at is from a Porsche dealership and has 66,129 miles on it. what's the next major service that will be due? also, what's the average life span on a Cayenne's motor?

Thanks.

I just bought a 2011 v6 with 56k miles on it. A major service incl timing belt is at 60k. Make sure that's been done. After that the next is regular oil change after 10k or 1 yr. since you're buying from a Porsche dealer, make sure they give you the CPO warranty (Certified PreOwned), good for 2 yrs or 100k miles. That takes some of the risks out of the equation.
Another benefit of buying from dealer is they routinely replace all tires with new ones if the existing ones are less than 50percent. Also I got all new brake pads. Work these into your negotiations. I also got new OEM floor mats, full tank of gas(extended 27 gal tank--$100), and detail.

Good luck

I think they are pretty solid. Ours has been and I don't recall seeing any terrible posts about them. I cant truly speak for high mileage ones though. I think all of those 955 problems have been remedied in the 958's.

I'm at 67000 with my 2013 Cayenne V6. No issues to date other than regular maintenance.

I never really had any major issues with mine. Normal maintence and I had the water pump die after 4yrs/35k. I had a few nagging things with the door seals cracking and required software updates/campaigns. I just traded it in with 39k because I needed something faster... a 2016 S.

I sold my '09 v6 with about 75k miles on it. My independent mechanic said those engines are very reliable with regular maintenance. He did recommend changing the water pump between 75-90k miles as some of them do have a tendency to throw one. To save labor costs, he recommended doing it at the same time as the timing belt & plugs.

Please tell me if I am wrong. I thought the 3.6 VW FSI engine had a timing chain and not a belt? Are you guys talking about the Serpentine Belt (V-belt)??

I was told from the dealer that the driveshaft is not an issue with the 958 anymore.

Check that oil has been changed every 10,000 miles/ 1 year, brake fluid flushed every 2 years, spark-plugs done at 40,000/4 years, v-belt done at 60,000/6years. Also check for leaks in water-pump cause mine was leaking and was replaced by dealer before purchase.

Minor maintenance every 20,000/2 years
Major maintenance every 40,000/4 years

Hope that helps.

You have a very good chance or reaching 170K miles or well beyond based on threads from owners of the 955 and 957 models. I'm heading that way myself, no plans to sell anytime soon.

Theres also another 2011 Cayenne with 44,000 miles but it's from a non Porsche dealership and a 2011 cayenne s with 63,000 miles. The prices are about the same as the Porsche dealership cayenne I was looking at. which three would be a better guys?

All depends on their history. I'd get the VIN numbers and look them up on Carfax or a similar service. Get the maintenance records if you can as an alternate. If all three are clean and well maintained, then it comes down to personal preference. You can still get service at the Porsche dealership if desired or find a good independent. The S will have more power with about the same gas mileage. Definitely take them out on test drives before you decide.

The one at the Porsche dealership. They have the maintenance records on hand because it was bought and serviced there. And it has a clean record. The other two also has a clean record. So now it's the hard part to choose, which one is the better investment. If the other two were from a Porsche dealership with the lower miles. I would most likely made a offer.

Doesn't the car at the Porsche dealership come with a CPO Warranty? (2 yrs or 100Kmiles). For me, that's a huge relief of pressure/worries, knowing that you are backed by the dealership/factory for 2 more years.

The one I was inquirying has been sold but I found 2011 Cayenne s from the Porsche dealership and it's not CPO according to their website. https://downtown.porschedealer.com/p...24654/info.php

2011 Cayenne V6

We purchased my wife's Cayenne new back in 2010, it now has 52k miles.

Mar 2013 at 38k miles the tranny transfer case failed and was replaced under warranty. The car made a thumping sound when shifting (automatic tranny)

July 2016 at 52k miles water pump failed; cost was $621 (part + labor)

Front & Rear brakes/rotors are about due for a change. I'll see if I can do this myself.

Other than minor electrical problems...car has been fine (two cig outlets stopped working)
