Porsche Car Connect app

Searched and could not find much if anthing.

My 2016 e-hybrid Cayenne has the ability to monitor various functions via my iphone and an app called Porsche Car Connect.

Anyone use it?

Apparently need to bring car to dealer to 'program the car'... I registered on the Porsche website but the app asks for an activation code. I would guess this is what the dealer has to 'pair' to the app and car.

Any experience would be appreciated.

Yes, the dealer needs to activate the system for you in the car. Should have happened before you took delivery. App works fine, but a little slow in actually connecting to your car for info. Nice to be able to confirm your car is locked and see some of the statistics.

Call the dealer to see if they did the initial system activation in their shop Their is also an activation code that is text to your cell every time you install on a new device. Make sure that is not the activation you are referring too.

Thanks Robot.

My dealer is clueless. He initially said (service dept) it was a $75 charge. He called back today and said sales would cover the charge for the Apple Car Play. It was a message so did not yet clairify Porsche Car Connect v. Apple Car Play. Which brings me to another question as I thought only the new 911 had that enabled thus far....

I think you summed it up when you said he was clueless.

The PCC activation should be part of the standard predelivery process. you should NOT have to pay for it. Call back and talk to the service manager or someone that knows what they are talking about. Last resort call Porsche. That is an included service that you paid for when you bought the car.

The dealer activated the Porsche Car Connect yesterday and I was not charged. They said they checked with the regional rep and there is a standard charge normally but sales ate it in my case. After it was uploaded to the suv I received a text on my phone to enter into my iPhone PCC app. It works well but likely not worth the trouble for some. it provides information about battery charge, mileage and location on a map as well as lock the doors and fold the mirrors remotely. It does not turn on the ac/heat or ignition remotely sadly.

Hope to have ApplePlay some day....

Is PCC something that comes standard on all 2016s or is it an option that should be listed on the Build Sheet?

(I just leased a 2016 base Cayenne off the dealer's lot and there was no discussion of it during delivery that I can remember.)

I believe it is standard with the PCM if that is an option on the base.

I ordered a 2016 Cayenne S in Mar and the Porsche Car Connect was a $590 option, so does not look like its standard

This must be correct. My dealer believes if it is not listed as a line item on the window sticker it is not on the carr.

I believe PCC is only standard on the S eHybrid. Others have to add it.

@X5B4 - you have to have the optional ACC/Heating unit (forget the exact name) to use the feature in your PCC app. I just remember it was very pricey for some limited added convenience (about $1,500).

Agreed - the price was really not worth it and apparently it is also available as a dealer installed option anyway. I figure if my car is plugged in (if and when my office installs charging stations) I will be able to control the climate while it is plugged in and not need the app or the added option.

Are you saying you can control the climate system if your car is plugged in WITHOUT the option? Don't think that is the case.

PCC App while plugged in

That was my understanding, but I have not activated mine yet and can't validate. It would be a shame since I can do all of that in my Ford, without it being a $1500 option. -

got this from the FAQ document on the car connect site:

5.11. I have activated the departure timer with precool/heat for my Porsche E-Hybrid vehicle. Why is the charge status below 100 % at the time of departure?
If the departure timer was set for 7*a.m., for example, your vehicle's high-voltage battery will start charging at 5*a.m. The charging process is complete after 1:30*h. Over approximately the last 30*min., your vehicle is precooled/heated ready for use.
If there is an inadequate supply of electricity from the supplier, the power required for the precool/heat may be higher than the available charge current. The battery may therefore be discharged during the precool/heat process, resulting in a charge status of less than 100 %.

Probably with the assumption that you have the option Installed. I can confirm that I don't even see the climate icon/settings on my PCC since I don't have the optional system.

I found the option in the car connect app...if you click on the menu bars in the upper left, you will see an option under emobility for timers, you cn set up a single or repeating timer for vehicle heating cooling when plugged in.
