DRLs always on?
DRLs always on?
I noticed when sitting, idling in park, that the daytime running lights stay on. I take it that's deliberate? I understand it's a US regulation thing, but in other markets are the DRLs controllable by the switch?
I ask only because I was sitting in a parking lot, waiting for my child's music lessons to end, and the DRLs being lit kept getting me pestered for leaving the parking spot. Bethesda parking is, annoying and not helped by parking vultures.

It's actually a Canada regulation, not the US (though I think there may be some jurisdictions that require them).
Are you sure it was the DRLs and not the parking lights (they look pretty much the same)? If you turn the light switch to the off position that should turn all the exterior lights off. There is also a setting in the Info panel of the MFD that lets you turn them off completely.

I'll have to check the MFD settings, as I don't recall seeing anything related to that.
I'm talking about the four lights in the LED headlamp assembly. Not the strip lighting on the bumper. Even with the headlight switch turned to the off position, those four come on immediately when the key is turned, and stay on.

Ahh, my reference to parking vs DRL was on the assumption we were talking about a non GTS/TT, sorry about that.
Yeah that sounds not right to me. When I turn my switch to off, all the lights are off. I've got the headlights without the DRLs in them though and I also turn my DRLs off in the MFD because I think the whole idea is stupid and dangerous.

I've checked and there are no options on the MFD to affect the DRL settings. I didn't expect there would be as there are issues with regulations requiring their use. What I'd like to have, however, is a way to turn them off when the vehicle is in Park. Not sure what the regs have to say about that. But it seems like the computer setup in these vehicles should be smart enough to know how to do this. The question is whether or not the system could be 'coded' such. And whether anyone's got the right tools to able to do so.
What MY is yours? My 13 definitely has an option in the MFD to turn them off, because I turned mine off. I'll try to remember to get off my *** and go out to it today so I can get the path & pics for you.
Again, no country wide regulations in the US require DRLs. I live over by Dulles and am not aware of any of our local jurisdictions that require DRLs either. All cars destined for the US come with them now so that they can be driven in Canada (where it is required by law).

I have to update my sig to include the MY. It's a 2017 GTS.
Heh, someone around here quibbling over regulation language? NO, SAY IT AIN'T SO!

I hear ya though. My interest is in finding out if there's any way for the one I have in my possession, being a US-spec, serviced here in the US, being reconfigured to change the DRL behavior while in Park.

I guess they could have changed something in the .2s to remove the option. Maybe someone else with an older .2 can confirm if they have the setting or not.
If they really have removed it I suppose that is yet another reason this will be my last new Cayenne and if I pick up a used one it will be a 958.1.
Hmmm... On second thought my gut has been saying that if you are just sitting there with the lights off then they should be off too, but I guess that isn't really true as their purpose is specifically to be on when the engine is running but the lights are off. Ugh, I hate DRLs...

So according to the "Good to know" App, the 2013 MFD path is:
Vehicle Information screen > Settings > Light & Visibility > Exterior lights > Daytime light
The 2017 manual indeed does not list it and apparently doesn't have "daylight" any where in the manual.
That absolutely blows
Guess you need to cozy up to a Tech with a PIWIS III to see if there is an option they can turn off.

Talked with the dealer and they specifically will not disable this (but have done other changes, so it's not just someone being difficult). They indicated, however, that 3rd parties might be able to do it. I called one and they don't get their databases updated until 18 months after manufacture. Right now they're up to late 2015. Won't be able to do mine for a while.
So, "it's possible" but I have to find someone that can.

I've not yet gotten a negative enough impression of any of the service departments to cast any disfavor. Yet. And since it's new there hasn't been anything needing attention... yet. I'm sure, given time, that will change.
on 958.1 was possible to remove DRL from list, in this case you can connect leds directly where you like, for example, get them on only then gearbox not in the "P", or only then car in motion. Many variants)
And was not errors messages, but it was 958.1
Nether try in in FL.
