Has anyone done an upgrade from their 2011-2014 Cayenne backup camera, to a 2015+? The resolution from the camera is awful and apparently the camera in the 2015 models is much better..

Not sure it will fit plu&play. From what I've been told, the on the 952.2 cars, there is no backap camera control module in the tailgate.

Anyway, I'm interested in your findings, as I have the 958.2 camera, which I would like to put on my 958.1 car, which has not been factory fitted with one.

Did you check the part #s for the 958.1 and 958.2 cameras ? Are they different to begin with ?

 

you should replace GW on FL version if want to use FL camera. as for me same poor image. Some china cameras better, but can be connected in 11-14 cars

I have no backup camera right now. Only parking sensors (and PCM 3.1).

Would I be able to install the FL camera, when I buy the FL gateway module ?

If so, do you have the Porsche part # for the FL gataway module to look for ?

 

I'd love to replace the camera on my 2011 as the factory unit really performs poorly in anything less than full daylight.


Is there an easy drop-in replacement? I know easy is not a good word as there's probably lot's of disassembly required to get the job done but I'm up for that if the replacement camera is plug & play.

 

do not know about simple camera replacement on 958.1 may be it will works, but parking lines will not be true imo. may be you can recalibrate camera with new eye, may be not - have to try. Oe camera powered not 12 Volts, but it is not problem. most 2011-14 cars can be coded as "camera low" - no additional control unit, no parking lines but better image with HQ not oe camera.

 

Curious if there is an update here for a pnP solution for 2011 camera w better quality.

Nav-TV was recommended to me by a Porsche Tech now with his own P-shop as the best for fitting to 955-957 or 958 Cayenne without the factory Back-up Camera option, so it should also work as an upgraded camera & hardware.
