Flushing automatic gearbox 04 Turbo
Flushing automatic gearbox 04 Turbo
Hi
I have a 04 Turbo with 138.000km on it. I want to follow recomandations and flush the gearbox with new oil. Now i hope most here know these cars are a bit tricky to change atf on. You need the fluid to keep 40 degree to get correct amount.... But how wold this be when flushing it? Is it the same end proceedure making shure its 40 degree then fill until it overflows?
How many litre did you use flushing yours?
Also im wondering if the rest of the oils under there shuld be changed same time? Diff and so on?

I've been thinking of taking mine to a shop to get it flushed. I changed the fluid when I did my valve body and used the Durametric cable to check the temp for the proper fill procedure. But obviously that only changed the portion of the fluid that drains leaving quite a bit still in the torque converter and such.
I would imagine once you have it flushed you would just run it and check the fluid level per the procedure at the bottom fill port.

I've done the trans fluid replacement twice on my 04 CS. First was just a service, so removed sump and replaced filter. I filled in about 7.5 liters of fluid. The next time I replaced the valve body and a lot more fluid came out, so that time I filled almost 9 liters.
Fill it till it overflows, let it warm up to 40 degrees, then top up.
Messiest job you will ever do on your Cayenne, no matter how careful you are !

Thanks for your reply guys. You mention changing the Valve body in the trans? Thats the "labyring" where the oil passes trugh? Was this a callback? Im shure if it was also for the turbo this year its been done... At least it gears smooth....
WHen flushing the gearbox they just put oil with presure to push out old and new oil in. But they say a normal car it takes easely 20 litre...? But i guess you first change firlter and gaskets?

Changing the fluid and filter by removing the pan will not get all the fluid out of the trans. So it could easily be 20 liters of fluid in there for a full flush. I think I was pretty close to 9 liters also when I did the valve body swap.
If you have problems with your valve body there is an easy way to test. In an open spot get up to about 50 in 5th gear and stomp on the pedal. If it's going bad you will know almost instantly because it will literally feel like you hit a big rock or a tree. It's VERY violent.
