New guy with an 04 Turbo

Hi All! New to the forum here. I have to say that I have learned a lot from this forum so far and it has helped me to decide on the right vehicle for me (price helped an awful lot too )

I have always loved powerful cars and trucks. We recently got 2 large dogs so I was forced to buy an SUV. I live in New Hampshire so an SUV make perfect sense as well. She has 89K on her and was driven gently and serviced at Dealerships. I know that I need to do my coolant tubes before I start pushing her but I will wait until I buy a few other parts to install at the same time. I am not planning on going crazy. Intakes, exhaust, tune (Bren Tuning), and wheels. This is what I always say though.

I love to work on cars. My current project (if the CTTS doesn't distract me and my $$ too much) is a 2004 F-350 with a Cummins 12V swap.

Soooo.. On to my first forum question. In everything I have read, I can't seem to find the details of what the 04 Turbo S offered that the standard turbo didn't. Can anyone enlighten me?? I think I heard the intercoolers were bigger and the suspension was different but it's tough to search on "S" in the forums.

I look forward to sharing my future mods with everyone here.

-Mike

Nobody buys a turbo to gently drive it, but dealers and sellers will tell you that.

I agree with you but I bought it from a friend.

He bought it new for his wife to drive. The worst wear in the car is from the car seat on the leather. He would take it out to breathe every once in a while but he has plenty of other toys to play with.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome. I know I absolutely love my CTT. Best vehicle and most fun I've owned, and I have had quite a few . Let's see some pics when you can?!?

Congrats. Great cars. On your question about the 04 Turbo S vs 04 Turbo. THere was no turbo S in 04. That didn't show up till 06. Some people have gotten the S decal and added it afterward. There was an E81 kit that could be ordered before turbo S showed up that had many of the parts that the Turbo S came with.
The Performance Kit includes:
- new charge air cooler with increased cross section, modified supply and ventilation guides
- reinforced spring struts (air shocks), larger brake discs and brake calipers
- reinforced tie rods as well as improved rubber mounting on the control arms
- new level control unit
- modified map for DME control module

Lift up your rear cover where the subwoofer and tire goop is and you should see a sticker from the factory showing all your options! Look for the E81 to see if you have the power kit! You can also check and see if you have the BBK on the front as well! The inter-cooloers on the E81 kit will be silver with metal end tanks! If they are black with plastic you just have the regular CTT. No biggie either way especially if you are doing some mods. I would do secondary cat bypass pipes, exhaust, and a good tune! Let us know what you find out!

Thanks for the great info! My friend didn't tell me it was an S but we didn't talk about it either.

I do remember that they had an incident when they left the rear hatch open and closed the garage door. He probably bought the new letters and put them all on. I have seen the kits come with the S and the Turbo.

I am totally in love with the truck and I know that it will only get better. I have to see about the options. I doubt it has too many add on goodies from the factory.

I took a picture of what I think is the label. Not sure though.

Sorry to jump in, but I can't pm you yet. Do you know if in 2005 they changed the base ctt? I ask because I was looking at mine and I have silver inter coolers like you mentioned, and I'm pretty sure when I ran my vin it said I had the 13.78" front rotors and 6piston calipers with the 13.48 rears with quad piston calipers. (Which Might be standard. I really don't know)I also have the air ride. I was just wondering since mind had a few of what sounded like the upgrades from the e81 kit you mentioned, but I didn't see it listed on my options tag.

Standard intercoolers didn't change from '04-'06. The easiest way to tell if you have the Turbo Power Kit is to see if you have 2-piece front rotors.

It's all stock so I can't offer anything new. The only new things I have purchased so far are rain guards (for keeping the moisture inside down when we track snow in the truck) and a set of mudflaps . I'll post up pics of the mudflap install when I do it.
