Too expensive. I go to Gingerman (tues, wed, thrus) $60 only from 5.30 to 9PM.

We do two track events annually at Autobahn Country Club and they both sell out well in advance. People really enjoy the track, especially when you can run the full (north and south combined) 3.56 mile road course.

Would I buy a membership. No, but it's a fun track to drive.

Are there any instructional events at Gingerman? I'm a complete novice, though I'm doing the PSDS in Sept.

Yes they have PCA club events. I highly recommend a PCA DE, but its a very safe track for you to get to a feel for the track and learn. That's a really nice car you have there...very partial to the color though. where in chicago do you live?

Definitely join the PCA. I did the Autobahn DE this year. It is a great facility. I personally would never track enough to make a membership worth it. Considering all the DE events in the area, there is no shortage of opportunity to get on the track for much less money. In addition to PCA, MVP Track Time and Track Daze both hold events there.

Ajag, considering you are a novice I am assuming you are not looking at becoming a full member at ACC (current cost $35,000 plus annual dues) but attending track days. ACC is a very nice track. Depending on the event you may run full course, north track or south track. Each has it's pluses and minus but there is enough variety to keep you interested. It's definitely a fun. If you want instruction there are a bunch of options depending on what you want to spend and how individualized you want the instruction. I'll be at Supercar Saturday at the Glen in Glenview this Saturday in case you are planning to attend and I'd be happy to answer any questions. If you are not going feel free to send me a pm with your questions.

Autobahn

I've been to ACC through lapsincorporated.com with my 996TT, and its definintely a great track, however, much too expensive to join as a member. Another way to get into this track is being a member with lapsincorporated which is a lot cheaper. Sean Young is the guy who runs lapsincorporated and his company sponsors you if you join to attend track times.

If you join lapsincorporated they offer 11 dates five at Autobahn Country Club’s 3.5 Mile “Full Track” configuration, one at Road America, one at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, a three day weekend at Milwaukee mile, and one at Grattan Raceway Park. Plus DE training on each course. It definitely is worth the price.

Lapsincorporated looks very interesting, which package do you get and how many yrs have you been doing it? Anyone else buy that track package? How is the instruction quality?

Laps Incorporated

I met Shawn Young last year and went to his program as a guest of his to try it out, but the Enthusiast membership is a great bargain for what you receive. And as a novice driver, the instruction they provided were tremendous in the classroom as well as on the track. I was also provided with a trained driver to go along the first time so that I would be able to receive racetrack familiarity and training. There were plenty of people with differing driving experiences and if you are well experienced you can go out on the track by yourself and test your skills. And people that attended the event had many different type of car classes from the GT2s to your stock class to spec Miata's.

I was also a guest of Shawn's a couple years ago. The experience was tremendous, but you have to be a serious enthusiast to be a member and put those $ in there. If you are.............then it's well worth it, imo.
